Default Expensive Magazines and Mustaches

I forgot that Albie warned us about the "fair and balanced" election viewpoint of the ALPA Publication....I am sure that they printed only the responses they received back by the time of printing. I assume that they'd have to send a questionaire out to a Republican in order to get one back. I couldn't read the responses as I was overcome by an overwhelming urge to vomit due to the obvious pandering of the candidates.

This is not about politics however....relax Dogbreath. Just an observation of how ALPA and my representatives are out to lunch. I used to think when we first joined ALPA, that it was kind of cool to see some stuff from FedEx participation getting published. Now I see FedEx Pilots all over the thing whose joy at being published can only match my narcissm when I see responses to my posts on APC.....complete with the requisite "It sure is cool to be doing all this national stuff" mustache. Meanwhile we got serious issues at home. The house is burning down, and all our Union guys are doing is playing with matches.

If I see a FedEx guy on another John Prattle "Blue Ribbon Panel on Bilking your constituents" I think I'll go nuts. It isn't even a $4000.00 magazine anymore.....it just keeps the juice from the garbage from soaking down in the bottom of the kitchen trash bag....it's glossy pages aren't even absorbent, and it smells like the dead fish I'm throwing out.

Yes....I got involved, yes, the game is fixed, no....I haven't quit.......just waiting for the tide to turn just a little. One or two more block reps, then out goes DW, and perhaps the Crown Prince DM....Maybe Sleepy will have an epiphany around epiphany..........

Perhaps the inmates will run the asylum by Bastille Day. In the meantime, I will do like D (Marie Antoinette) W says and "Eat Cake".

You actually open the cover and look in there?

It actually covers the bottom of the trash bag better that way

The answer is the dems were the only ones to respond.

All that aside--I think there is room for organized labor to work with both parties. I know this thread will probably get crushed...but we straddle a fine line as airline pilots. We benefit from good labor laws, but we also have a high enough income that we also have a huge impact on tax laws. For instance, Obama has mentioned raising the Social Security withholding up to the 200-300k range. For some of our folks, thats a 20-30k tax hit. So--we have to be very careful in how we position ourselves, as the reality is guys from EITHER party can do grevious harm to our incomes.

If you ask ME who to vote for--I'll tell you my opinon. As an MEC rep my answer will be "follow your own heart". Not party line--but I'm not in the party yet.

What kills me is the incredible audacity of ALPA National to think that I would give a rat's arse about who they think I should vote for.

They are so far out of touch it isn't even funny anymore.

Back the PAC, right. Throw more money down the drain while the union lobbies against me?

I don't think so.

I've got to agree here, the worlds most expensive magazine subscription wants to tell me how to vote?

In case you all missed it, this is the same union that asked us to vote in the administration that enacted legislation to pay debitors first, instead of pensions. Just go study the UAL bankrupt case and where and when the law changed.

All that PAC money and where are we now and in the future? I would recommend that each airline pilot group have it's own PAC.

Just like when Albie posted before, I got sick of the magazine during the LAST election. It was the same, and as it got nearer to vote time, the messages kept coming more and more often as how to vote.

It made me about vomit trying to have such a great leader as DW trying to tell me which way to vote.

And yeah, the glossy pages work good in the role described above. Too bad it's not quite absorbent or soft enough for some other uses.

And to think that only PAC money goes toward that kind of stuff. Where is all our dues money going?

Just a thought or two.
