ABX Air Question

ABX Air Question
I have an interview coming up at ABX air for the Osaka base. Has there been any further progress with the union/company on this base? Is it commutable, from say LA or Hawaii?? What is the general attitude at ABX? Any information would be appreciated.

No progress at this time still just talking. At some point I believe we will have language in the contract it will just take time. Trying to commute to Osaka would be brutal! The lines are not build for it, they are built with 4-5 days off then 2-3 days on etc. The general attitude is pretty much the same as the past this is best job in the airline business if the pilots would not accept Jrm's, if the company could figure out how to staff the airline, if no one did open flying, etc, etc.

Thanks for the info. Do you forsee any vacancies in the states with the acquisition of additional aircraft from Air China? Are the lines all built to 65?Sounds like my company regarding the staffing,jr mans, and open time....

I would seriously look at the DHL situation here in the US before coming to work at ABX. If DHL doesn't decide how to make this work, we all could be looking for work. It is a good job, except for the reasons mentioned above. Senior guys screwing the juniors, etc.

Please do not let the negative talk on this board reflect poorly on ABX. Yes we have problems. Yes we like to b1tch, name a pilot who doesn't. It is a good company to work at. The schedules are good, the pay is very good.
Are there some DHL unknowns yes, can they (DHL) stay in the freight business without a U.S. operation NO. 50% of all of Dhl's freight touches the U.S. If they give up on the U.S. they are giving the rest of the world to brown and purple, and DHL would be dead in short order, so they have to tough it out in the U.S.
Osaka lines for Feb. have all but 1 under 65 hours of flying. There was 1 line built to 72 hrs. There were 7 out of 11 lines that had more than 15 days off (16 &17).
It is tough to say how long you would be in KIX. If you take the KIX assignment as of now there has to be a position in ILN for you to bid back to. The KIX domicile is still too new to know anything. As of now I do not even think we have gotten any work visas for Japan. No one knows how this will play out, and that includes the company.
Any other specific questions just ask. Good luck with the decision

Are you kidding me?? You need to get with the program. Didn’t you listen to the Conference call? CrewTrac is a “money machine” for junior pilots now. And the more junior you are, the better.
THE place to be at ABX for pay right now is the bottom guy in your seat. Potentially jrman pay for everyday of the month, without ever answering the phone or flying a trip. The seniority system for pay at ABX is turned exactly upside down.
Without any exaggeration, I can say every FO I fly with is, (or should be) making more money than me right now. If he’s not, he’s just not plugged in to the CrewTrac “money machine”

Stormy, would you quit teasing us like that...some of us really want that new hire -9 class...ABX is turning into the prom queen, always promising to dance with me but yet I'm still alone in the corner at the end of the night :-(
