Life at Amerijet International
I've done a bit of research on Amerijet's website and it looks like their schedules are mostly out and backs? It also looks like their flying is greatly reduced on the weekends. Can sombody on the inside confirm or deny this?
Also any information on growth plans, upgrades, quality of life etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, most of there flying is out and back. And the weekends are slow. I heard they were phasing out there 727's. Right now there in the process of being unionized, so the relationship between some crew members and management is a little hostile. Allot of new hires are bailing out during training for one reason or another--Make sure you find out all you can about them (good or bad ) before you commit. Good luck.

Fellow Pilots,
Don't waste your time with Amerijet as their the dirtbags of the frieight industry! Many new hires are bailing out due to the fact that the company is intentionally trying to persuade them to steer clear of the union!
Mr. Dave Bassett the owner,Dislikes unions! The Chief Pilot Ed Cook is a whimp, and a back stabber!
Of all the freight companies that I have worked for this place is the worst. Not even a porta potty on the aircraft with such long duty hours! ( Over 16)
I'm bailing out soon myself as this company is an accident waiting to happen due to the log book pencil whipping that is going on by maintenance!
Thanks.

Is it true you guys at Amerijet land in Dominica? I visited the island about 2 years ago and talk about backwater... I think they are the only Caribbean Island without night capabilities. I learned this the hard way when trying to fly in on a late flight out of Barbados.
How the heck do you guys get a 727 on the runway down there? American Eagle seems to have a difficult enough time with their ATR's.

Getting on a 4,700' strip is not the hard part. The brakes on the 727 are fantastic... getting off can be a bit tricky... But the payload and fuel are very restricted.

Hello,
The approach needs to be right on the numbers with such a short strip. The brakes are applied immediately with the hope that the antiskid system will function normally otherwise blown tires will result with a possible brake fire!
When in the blocks the brakes need to be released so they can cool. No night landings there. Sufficient ground time is imperative as Hot brakes retracted into a wheel well is not kosher!

I did some time there in the mid 80's, sad to see that things aren't any better. Good luck to you.
