I'm no where close to being an "apple" but - give me a break.
If you're good on landings, lighten up and give a fellow pilot one. Who cares if he's a senior MEM FO bidding RFO lines. Some Captain with a dozen landings in the last couple of months has to kick this guy in the jimmy because he's got a good deal as an RFO and stiff him on one stupid landing? Dude - step back and listen to yourself.

Why is there a "big difference".
I'm no where close to being an "apple" but - give me a break.

Maybe it is just a junior captain wishing he was still a senior FO

I think the point most are trying to make in this thread is that guys need to be proactive about maintaining landing currency. Those that are, and find themselves in a bind (not their fault) get a landing without ****ing everyone else on the flight deck off...after all, everyone is trying to stay current. But to do nothing out of the ordinary except bid your "cherry" RFO trips - when you had the seniority and the chance to bid something less desirable to ensure your currency, and then beg for a landing - shows disregard for the other guys who are on their awarded trip and don't appreciate having their landings snaked by someone who could have taken care of it by bidding.
All that being said, the captain still has a responsibility to make sure that the landing goes to the guy who needs it most, regardless of how he got himself in that situation. I would imagine that management could call a captain onto the carpet if they could determine that he intentionally stiffed a first officer out of a landing because he thought the guy should have bid differently, and as a result, the f/o had to go to the sim, or worse, had to have a trip dropped and go to the sim. Of couse the captain could always veil this situation under "safety" or other operational reasons to hide his real reasoning.
