UPS Anchorage -400

In every group there is one who is willing to dive on the grenade. Today it is me.

What is the best way to fly the -400 in Anchorage. I want to be back up there by fishing season. I lost out on a bunch of days on the river this summer in Louisville.

If I just put it in my system preference, is that different than keeping my current aircraft #1 and putting the -400 #2. I do not quite get the difference as it pertains to coming back to Louisville in a few years/move package/displacement rights/etc. One last part: When does the training move to ANC?

A little help please for a UPS guy willing to take one for the team.

Correct in the fact you have no seat lock. However, if you take the move package and bid another domicile within 18 months, you are obligated to reimburse the company the costs of the move. Inside of 12 months = 100%. It's prorated from the 13 to 18 month point. Greater than 18 months = no payback. Also, if you fail to complete your move within 12 months, you must reimburse the company 100% of any relocation costs.

All dates referenced in the contract are effective dates, not actual move or training dates. See pages 182 and 183 (Article 12) of the hard copy for details.

And I want to know if you are senior to me ... :D

You could take my place in ANC if you like. I expect it when the Classic Whale displacements begin ...

Frontseat:

I am junior to ALL classic F/O. Nice pilot group. I rode a few J/S with the classic guys and they are great.

Browncow:

We had a beer at F Street a couple of weeks ago. My wife and I talked about it and that was a great place to live and we want to go back.

If you want this put ANC MD or 400 in the last slots of your system equipment pref bid list.

Why put it last??? I heard if I put my current A/C #1 is guarantees me displacement rights, but put what you want #2. Is this not the case??? What happens if I put -400 #1. Does this mean I have requested the transfer and therefore can only come back to an original vacancy to the lower 48?

Fish

Fish,

As long as you list your current seat in your system pref bid first, then the only way you will move is if you can't hold your current seat any more (that is you will only move if you are displaced).

If you list the ANC 747 first, and you are not seat locked, you normally could get it - however with the very senior SO's bidding back to the front, I doubt anyone over about 150 will get any awards. The displacement that will likely follow will be the thing that moves the junior folks.

Bid what you want in the order you want it.

Also, with the current brown contract, you can bid for a seat only if you get a move package - read the directions that come out with any bid.

Hope that helps, and good luck,

(I may be up there with you depending how the next few bids go.)

Per an email from ManPower Planning, you want to list:

1) 757 SDF (If that's what you are on)
2) 747 ANC

Was advised if you WANT ANC, drop Manpower Planning an email saying you want to go. (I don't know why this matters but maybe someone else can chime in).

They also said displacement bid was coming Feb 26. (They did NOT give insight to numbers just a date)

With the commute and no end in sight for RSV, looking forward to it as well.

Looking for insight on Package 1. Anyone had an issues with moving company/cars or tickets up to ANC? Smooth move or nightmare?

Was the 3-yr contract issue ever resolved to include the 747-400 or has it just remained for the MD-11?
