FDX - vacation and recurrent Q
I've got vacation in March and I expanded out to knock out some trips. I didn't protect min days off for training. I just got my training schedule and they put my training in my vacation expansion time and still charged me for the V-day that I used to knock out my expansion trip. Is this legal per the contract? Can they give me this training slot?
Sec 11.E.4 - says they can't make me train or travel to train during my vacation period.
yeah I know don't bid vacation during training...

4. A pilot shall not be required to train or travel to or from training,
other than ITU training, during his awarded vacation period(s).
A pilot removed from a trip(s) for vacation shall not have any
recurrent training scheduled during the scheduled days of
the trip(s) or the scheduled days off between those trips in
his pre-month or due-month unless he initiates a request for
recurrent training date(s). This paragraph shall not apply to the
scheduling of additional training for a pilot who has incurred a
training failure.
Are you in the grace month ?

Did you bid that slot ? If not they can't put training in a Vacation or expansion footprint. If you expand from say Mar 6 all the way to the 20th to knock out your last trip, they should not put training anywhere in that footprint.

They removed my training, and put my calendar back to the way it was before the training was scheduled. Vonya said it was a computer "glitch" as people rarely have vacation and training in the same month and it had never happened before. She said they would have to keep an eye on it. She was great to work with.
I'll be assigned my training in my grace month.

All's it would take to fix the so-called computer "glitch" is a few lines of code. If it hasn't been fixed nearly 2 years after the latest contract went into effect, then they aren't interested in fixing it unless they are forced to.
Please let the Contract Enforcement office know about this.

Uh, yeah. I'm more inclined to believe the conspiracy theory of, "we'll keep scheduling it that way hoping most guys won't know the contract well enough to complain about it".
