Why do you have to wait a day or two and reenter the site according to the FCIF if all airmen certificates issued after February 11, 2008 will include the English Proficient endorsement?

I believe it is to get your temporary cert...

If you don't have to work for the 2 weeks after you put in for the new card, you don't have to do the temp thing...just wait for your new card.

I ordered the new certificate which takes two weeks to come by mail. Why do I have to wait a day or two to request a temporary certificate by E-mail, instead of doing it immeadiately? I think I read that you can only request a temporary certificate once every 60 days. I'd like request the temporary certificate right away, but I'm afraid it wouldn't be the English proficient temp certificate. I have a couple of days to request the temporary certificate before the 5 March deadline. Some might not be able to wait two days if they do this closer to the deadline. How quick have you guys been requesting the temp certificate with success?

Wait two days--then it works. There is no limit on temporary exercise authority--only replacement certificates; two separate things.

By the way, proficiency, as defined by the FAA, is the ability to speak and understand the language - not spell it.
Judging by the posts on this site over the past few years, that is a good thing.

When the FCIF came out I went to the FAA website that day and did everything in one step. I printed out the temp certificate and paid the $2 for the replacement. I went to Colorado for 4 days and came back and my new FAA license was in my stack of mail. Entire process took about 5-6 days. I was shocked. Expected the FAA to take at least double the time stated to get my new license to me.

I got my ticket in 11 days. Pretty quick for government work.

The hardest part of the process is filing the non-travel expense report!
