A bit confused on political threads
#21
The last ALPA monthly magazine had an article that included several questions for the candidates, and their answers about aviation-related issues. Unfortunately, no Republican contender replied to the questions sent to all of the candidates.

"Please don't open up political discussions here, moderators, unless you want a moderation nightmare"
You mean at APC? Yeah, I agree. I think that's kind of the whole reason politics and religion are not approved in the TOS.

Sorry for the delay in responding, I picked the wrong week to forget my laptop charger. Seriously, a week in NRT without a computer was torture.
Keeping politics off the forum is outlined in the Terms of Service:
Our goal here isn't to discourage debate and responsible discourse as much as it is to keep the ensuing anonymous flame-fest off our forums. Engaging in the political debate IS important and we strongly encourage it where it counts - in your community.

Keeping politics off the forum is outlined in the Terms of Service:
There are currently NO forums that provide a venue for discussing politics or religion. While DreamLaunch Media Ltd. and Airline Pilot Central embrace the diversity the world has to offer, these subjects often are very emotional and there are many different views. In our experience the wide range of views and emotions rarely contribute to a harmonious online community or beneficial contributions to the piloting profession.
I'm a bit confused on the censuring or non-censuring of threads on the basis of politics. What constitutes a political thread? Does a discussion on the national race pertaining to our profession (Dem vs Rep) qualify? How about a thread about President Sarkozy of France and how his policies will affect our hub and new domocile in France? The Mayor of Oakland, Newark, Memphis or Anchorage could profoundly affect our operations there. Does a race for those offices constitute an "out of bounds" thread? As FDX pilots (and other operators) we have a wide and disparate view of the elected leadership landscape. Why can we not discuss it here (as long as profanity and the "idiot"
word are not used? This forum is supposed to be "for us, about us". We have moderators to prevent abusive use of the forum and to protect the founders interests, we understand that. It's a tough job no doubt. Just remaining impartial must be a challenge (politically). But you guys stepped up to the job, so no self interest allowed (unless of course you join in
). Hope to get a little productive discussion here.
