Default UPS new hire schedule question

What kind of schedule, days off/on, can a new hire expect if he was hired directly into a 757 in MIA or ONT. How many years would he/she have to work before it seems like the move paid off?

Also does anyone have any idea on what new hire pay might be and what a 2nd or 3rd year pilot can reasonably expect to earn with this new raise? wondering how much time a low seniority pilot can pick up to make ends meet.

Does it seem logical to quit a 6 figure gulfstream job to work for UPS? I am in my mid 30's no family etc.

I think the UPS contract requires 11 days off in a 28 day month(bid period). Reserve guys get 12 days off. Line holders usually average 14. I wouldn't expect much change. Keep in mind that when you fly into the sort at 0300 Monday and report for work at 0300 Tuesday you have had a day off.(24 hours).

No one can say with any certainty what pay will be. The last "big" pay raise in 98 reportedly has not keep up with inflation. Also there was no change to new hire pay in the last contract. I don't know it these trends will continue.

I would do the math on what UPS currently has in place and if anything improves then great otherwise you could be really disapointed. Rumor has it that there are given backs to the company in certain areas.

I agree with Brownie, this place sucks. Can't wait to get out of here myself.

What makes it so bad other than the contract problems?

Unhappy

been in mia over 6 yrs, u never get a real seniority, they practicaly have more ACP's than pilots (WORTHLESS) .Pay sux schedules sux life in general sux. If u wanna quit your 6 figure, do it 4 purple not brown because u end up regreting it, run while u can and don't look back.AND REALLY I'M NOT KIDDING and this up coming contract will make your life even more misrable from the sound of it.

Default My 2 cents worth

Frontseat...

I came to Big Brown from a branch of the military last year. Just received my first bid for the 757/767. Was awarded Reserve B. 8 on, 6 off. As far as the # of managers goes, if you do your job, fly the plane, and don't lie, steal or cheat, UPS can hire all the managers they want. You don't bother them, they won't bother you. Just do your job. I guess with my background, coming to Big Brown where all I have to do is fly, this is a lot easier than my previous life where I had numerous ground responsibilities.

If your GV job is VERY secure with a decent retirement, you might want to think twice before leaving though. One of those grass is always greener types of things.

Default Stuff

There were a few guys in my class who had been recalled by UAL, were sitting in class in Denver, got the call from Big Brown, and are now here.
