To all of the guys who have responded to myboyblue, it ENCOURAGES me in my pursuit of a line position in the future with FedEx. You guys shot straight from the hip and always seem to be positive and upbeat about FedEX.
Although I'm just starting out, (looking to attend a flight academy...I'm 44 yrs old), my hope is to bang out my ratings & licenses, get hired @ a regional, build time and around 49-50 years old apply to FedEX and other stable companies. My desire is to fly FO on the A-300 on a domestic route. Is it impossible? I don't think so. The underlying comment I keep hearing in many of the posts is, "Timing is everything."

If you are able to get hired here, and you have 10-11 good years left, you can be assured to sit in the right seat of the A300/310 within 3 years at the most (assuming growth remains the same). Fortunately for you, most of the Airbus flying is domestic anyway, with the exception of Subic (very junior), or SIBA (special bid for Europe...pretty senior).
Best of Luck in your late pursuit of a flying career! At worst, you'll get your ratings to tear up the sky!

I have been at Fedex for almost 2 years and only had to hub turn on my initial 727 s/o IOE. I have had trips that show at 3 am, but they were one leg out, or a few out and backs. If I can only hold crap, I still bid it, wait for open time to open up, and trade or drop away the crummy stuff.
Of course, one pilot's trash is another pilot's treasure.
