Our four cornerstone issues are:

1. Scope: making sure FedEx pilots operate Fedex planes (yes, I know about Tradewinds and the Canadian 727s...)
2. Scheduling/work rules: reducing fatigue, making scheduling transparent to the pilots, improving quality of life, and reducing the severe impact our sodimizer, oops, I mean the optimizer scheduling computer has upon our lives.
3. Health care: saving our health care benefits and preventing the company from raising our premiums to $500 a month.
4. Retirement: reducing the impact company policy has upon our retired pilots, such as saving our A plan, reducing their medical premiums from $500 a month, etc.

All sections of our contract are ammendable, but these are our four biggies.

From todays IPA EB hotline............

This week we received information that the pilot contract talks at UPS rival and chief competitor Federal Express have picked up considerable steam. An agreement between Fed Ex and its pilots could come as early as next month.

Browntail...

You beat me to the post. We might actually see something happen now that FedEx is going to get things happening.

Go FedEx GO!

I wouldn't get too excited until we ratify a TA. I think low expectations are still the rule of the day. Fedex has teased us too many times to get worked up over this rumor.

A common saying at FDX is "...don't believe it until it's on the ramp and painted purple..." We've heard for years they're retiring the 727s next year...the company will buy us laptops...we're buying 737s...we're buying 757s...etc. They float these test balloons and gauge the pilots' support or non-support upon our involvement in rumors. Then they do what they want anyway. The sarcastic side of me thinks they actually pay someone to come up with these false stories just to get back at us for forming a union.

That rumor is neat if true, but I won't believe it until it's painted purple, you know? Until they sign a contract: no draft, no volunteer and I'm taking my vacation.

I was told we are no where close to a TA. UPS guys are getting bad info from their comm link.

We are apparently nickels and dimes away on most money issues. But I was told Fred doesn't want to address scope at all but job security is huge for us. Not addressing/improving our scope section will be a show stopper. So will retro pay, but that's another issue.
