Are you talking about "PerkChoice"?

You need to do a little more reading and research. They haven't changed the basic "World Perks" program.

In other words our NWA miles are about worthless. For instance round trip SFO-BKK = 60,0000 miles and $900.00 cash!
not sure about this.....

i didn't get that email from NWA Worldperks.

just did a search on NWA.com for SFO-BKK (round trip May 7th, returning May 14th) and got several choices of flights for 30K miles each way.

never got to a place/page that said I had to add any cash to those miles, but it may come later in the booking process? not sure?

coincidentally, had just checked domestic flights yesterday and found the standard 25K miles for round trip within the 49 U.S. (excluding Hawaii)

as far as i can tell - nothing has changed (yet?)

Yes, PerkChoice. I know it is different, but I see you not having the choice with WorldPerks very soon. They will simply say sorry not available but you can use PerkChoice. It is a scam for them to get desperate people who are trying to get rid of their miles b/c of the merger to pay them big bucks.

Just because you're paranoid...Doesn't mean they're not against you.

I would not be saving your NWA miles for your kids college graduation 10 years from now. If you have them you had better use them.

I'm not worried about my worldperks miles. These miles will be sky miles after the merger. I do agree that finding lower mileage award tickets can be a challenge though, but this has always been the case for me.

I seem to remember some other communication from either the union or the company about this as well.

Basically the decision to give us points is done when the contract for that hotel is signed. In the past getting points for us has not been on anyone's radar, so most hotels tell us to pound sand (except for that $12 burger you get get at 2 AM).

From what I gathered, points will now be one of the goals for FedEx giving the contract to a hotel for us to stay. As such, points will only be available as hotel contracts are re-negotiated. In other words, the switch will take several years and may involve some switching of hotels and/or false starts.

This in no way prevents you from e-mailing your rep and asking him *** is up - I'm just relaying how I understood the proposition.
From the SIG today:

Last year the company (Crew Travel Services), in working with the global reps for the major hotel chains (Starwood Preferred Guest, Hilton Honors, Marriott Rewards, Priority Club, Radisson, etc.), determined that due to our low contract room rate the Affinity Points programs could not be applied to FedEx crewmembers. Crew Travel Services suggested that crewmembers give their "rewards" cards to the Front Desk staff upon check-in and hopefully points will be applied for incidental charges

Nice.

"Crewmembers are advised to put their open time requests in with the schedulers and hopefully something can be worked out."

I guess the official surrender will be included in the SIG Letter for May?

Maybe I can poll the rest of the crew about the temperature onboard and hopefully the APU won't get started.

Maybe I can launch with the GOC planned gas into that line of thunderstorms and hopefully the freight will get there.

Definitely not shooting the messenger, Tuck, just wondering about how often the word "hopefully" is used between ALPA and the company.

Maybe I can expense every cab ride this month even though my deviation bank is nothing and hopefully something will work out!

Pilot141,

Maybe you can try to understand that there's negotiation between FedEx and the various hotel chains that we stay at, and the pure and simple fact is that although it seems like a no-brainer for points (and free stays), the price that FedEx pays for rooms, coupled with the fact that there are all sorts of problems associated with housing guys who primarily sleep during the daytime, might cause said hotel chains to balk at giving away points. And then again, maybe you can't understand that.

Nice personal attack.

Re-read my post on page 2 where I talk about re-negotiating hotel contracts.

I was trying to inject some humor into the thread. Maybe you can understand that, or maybe you can't. Or maybe you just don't like my avatar and decided to roll in hot.

Whatever - I'm off to enjoy the life outside of this forum.
