Question FDX - Question for the UPS guys

Tonight I heard a UPS guy inform center that he and another UPS airplane were using "Company Spacing". What does that mean? Is it similar to MARSA in the military?

PS,
We have ADSB on our 757 / 767 fleet. The guys may have been using that. Works real similar to radar trail to include distance and Vc.

There is a good article about ADS-B in Air Line Pilot - April 2008 p.26

Military Assumes Responsibility for Separation of Aircraft.
We use it when multiple flights operate inside of ATC separation mins. It alleviates ATC responsibility if we run into each other. Often used when joining up with the tanker.

I thought that it was some sort of flesh eating bacteria.
We have ADS-B but who knows what those guys were doing. We don't have approval to do that in any sort of line operations. Maybe they were conducting a test?

Is it dependent on the EFB? If so it may be a while in coming. Could be that we are looking at the de-ice gantry for the 21st century
(a reference to a previous ups flop that was going to save millions)
