Default 1st Practice Bid Invalid?

I didn't see this mentioned in any of the earlier threads..if I missed it I apologize.

I'm hearing some pretty persistant rumors than the first practice excess bid was essentially invalid due to software issues. Third hand info from JL.

Just a heads up to check the results of future bids and make sure you were awarded what you bid, in seniority order. Which apparently wasn't happening on the first practice bid.

Kinda scary....

Depends on what you mean by invalid. Practice is just that, practice. Which includes a chance for the company to figure out if it is running like it should. Who knows what is being changed. Didn't someone say it allowed too many folks to be awarded HKG?

I hope they figure it out before the bid is supposed to close.

I know for a fact that some of the bid awards were inappropriate. The union knows this too. They have been silent about it, and again we get more info from the company than our union reps.

Why is that?

The first practice bid was fubared, hopefully they will get it worked out before the real bid closes. Can't get too worked up over a practice bid, but if it doesn't work how can you trust the real one? I guess since the company has decided to cancel awards at will none of the bids really matter anyway.

Hold on now.

Laughing Jakal told me the union has been busy taking care of more vital issues. He has thanked them for all of us.

I'm sure when they have time to handle some of the little stuff we'll hear something. Kinda like getting the city purity letter AFTER we voted on the contract. Almost 6 months after the letter was signed. Who says the MEC can't keep a secret?

I am glad this issue is coming to light. I cannot understand why we hear these issues discussed here, rather than from our Union Leadership.

Default No....No...NO....

If you haven't guessed by now, I am NOT an apologist for the MEC. I too believe we ought to be getting more info from the union about what is going on....Specifically when it comes to the companies intention and disposition of all those who bid HKG Capt in excess of the positions already filled.

I hope there's a negotiation going on and that's the reason for the MEC EMCON....I am afraid though, that they're loath to bring up the subject for fear of "disturbing the business-like" relationship they have with the company. Are they joining in the collective "sticking heads in the sand" and not asking a question, that when given the answer to, will obligate them to confront the company? I hope not, but I fear they are. I think they, along with the company are crossing their fingers and hoping the distribution will come out all right. (actually I am too)

That being said, when they do the right thing...instead of "the right thing to do".....then that should be acknowledged.

Ok, a little bird told me that the Union is currently trying to help untangle the practice bid birdsnest.........has to do with disposition of previous bid cancellations and making sure guys were treated iaw the cba. That has to get settled to provide an accurate baseline for bidding 08-02.

Consider it "The Force" whispering in my ear.

You're right. Just hard for me to brush aside the past.
