This issue needs to be forwarded to ALPA.

The answer is yes.

But if you're deviating the accepted fare would only be $10.

I have checked bags internationally, and had no issue with the costs and using the comany credit card.

What I want to know-- On NW, can I pay the extra to sit in the exit row?

yes, if you have the bank money. I always upgrade to "economy plus" on United. In the remarks section of the expense report I just put a note saying it was for upgrade to economy plus.

I don't envision anyone jumping in to cover this new baggage charge when they don't provide current accepted rates on per diem per city location (whether up or down). The dollar is at an all-time world low and we absorb 100% of the loss. The dollar is down by 30% in most major European and Asian economies. We are at parity now with the Canadian dollar (33% loss), the Australian dollar (30% loss) and we are down 20% against the Phillipeno peso, a weak currency. We aren't looking for a handout, just adjust the per diem rates to accurately reflect the actual cost of doing business just like the military or any major company does.

FYI. Here at Big Brown, the CP actually took the high road and said all excess bag fees can be expensed, even for deviation travel. Wow that surprised a few. Me included.

The fee won't apply to most Business/First/internatioal fares anyway.
