When Federal Express officially changed their name to FedEx (about 10 years ago?) there was a 3 page article in the New York Times (I think? Washington Post maybe?) giving praise for the really good marketing job. It said everybody already referred to it as FedEx anyway.
It also said that yes, "Federali" has a police connotation in many countries and that many Asians had trouble pronouncing "R" sounds (as in Federal) sounds.
It was a VERY complimentary article

You are correct...kinda. FedEx has many different companies under the corporate umbrella.
FedEx Express is the air frieght division
FedEx Ground is the trucking division
FedEx Freight is the large trucking items
FedEx Custom Critical
FedEx Trade Networks
FedEx Supply Chain Services
are the rest of the division

Hey Mark,

Oh well, what were we talking about.

Is that why NRT Delivery always tells me to 'Contact Lamp' for pushback?
