FedEx Equipment Bid on Hold?
Did anyone else see right through Jack's email about the bid being on hold? It seems to me to just be a tool to distract us from negotiations. Not sure why management would spin us around other than to just spin us around, but it works--I'm ****ed and will hold it against them.
Now that I've vented, does anyone have any "firm as jello" info on the backstory to cancelling/delaying the bid?

I think they are trying to figure out where to send me for my 737 training.
I'm glad Jack takes the time to let folks know what he's really like. His characterization of us as misbehaving children simply because we didn't play along with his "please tell us your life's aspirations before we'll post a bid or give you a contract" game is a glimpse into his true character. Don't be deceived - - he's not our friend.
The bid will be posted when it's posted - - it's one of those things over which we have no control.
Don't worry - - be happy.
- The truth only hurts when it should -

I think you're right. And I was wondering when and where they'd start training me for the 737.
Want my help? Sign the damned contract, show me that you'll actually live by it and then we can talk.

Does this surprise anyone?? This is a replay of contract negotiations in 1997/98. Don't be distracted.......Do your job 100% and keep your focus on the objective............"The New Contract"
Lets see........
We heard......... "Negotiations are on-going with progress....we expect a deal soon" Funny when you listen to the ALPA hotline..............No Sections TA'd for the past year and 1/2, and progress is currently at a snails pace.
We heard.........." A monster bid is coming out with 250 W/B Capts".............
never happend until 2 years later with the postal deal
We heard.............. " A European domicle is coming soon ".........................
They used the same FCIF's as last time............only the SCP's name is different.
To the new blood that wasn't here last time..........go to the ALPA website a read the history of LABOR at FedEx. Also suggets "Flying the Line Part 1 & 2 as well as Martin Levit's "Confession of a Union Buster" He was employed by FedEx by the way. These are all well worth the read.
I hope everyone is paying attention and doesn't forget their history lessons.

My hat is off to those "misbehavin' children" who bid the left seat of the 737 and to the Captains who trumped Jack by bidding to the panel!
I can't wait for the next spiel about how upgrading really does represent a pay raise and yada yada yada. Maybe I'll pre-empt their next letter with my own...
Dear Figurehead, Pawn and VP of Minutia:
Spare me the upcoming less-than-the-inflation-rate, under-the-table, take-it-or-leave-it, eleventh-hour offer. Be useful for a change and go find someone who can actually MAKE A DEAL WITH MY NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE. I'll be waiting to hear from them (not you), and -no- I'm not available to fly on my day off or during my vacation. Now chop-chop, get out of the way and go cash in your stock options.
Sincerely,
The ever-growing pilot consensus
