The reasons given in the above posted email from gemini are complete bunk. The guys moving the machines are doing what they can, if GAC is losing money now it is clearly the fault of the mgt team in place. All of us in the ACMI business have a portion of the fuel costs absorbed by the customer. to blame shortfalls on fuel clearly is an admission of guilt by management to appropriate funds properly.
Good luck guys,
WG
PS: As a competitor, I hope you folks come through, some of our folks hope for your demise so that we may get your airframes, the vast majority of us do NOT share that feeling. Cheers.

What am I rubbing in. They are being auctioned off, going out of business. It sucks but it's reality. Reality also is that UPS will be needing additional lift and 4 MD-11s will on the market, probably for a cheap price. Excuse me for not bleeding my heart out online for my "brother" pilots. There is no brotherhood. It's a dog eat dog world and I hope that UPS continues it's ravenous appetite.
It's called compassion. Get some. Karma is a b-tch, and hopefully it won't come back to bite you.

FBC,
UPS reminds management that they are one bad sort away from a loss of business that can spiral to bankruptcy. As a line pilot, I realize that I have no input any different that my fellow aviators at Astar/ABX/Gemini/etc. They work as hard as we do to provide good service to the customer who pays our wage. We are just lucky, we are line pilots who are no different than the unfortunate ones except being lucky enough at the right time to get hired at UPS. Many of these folks have had apps in with UPS for along time. They are no different than you and me. Yeah, glad UPS is doing well, but we are no different as simple employees and both really just lucky that were called and didn't Screw the pooch at the interview. See ya on the line.
