Those lines went very senior at UAL....

I imagine every swinging d!ck with a guard/reserve job would jump at that. I think that's probably a lot of guys.

Im posting this from my cell phone, so its a pain in the to go back and check 6 pages of posts...

But did I just read above someone stood up during a hub turn meeting and advocated a furlough??

61 and getting excessed back into the back seat?

I hope PCs daughter tells on him to dad and gets him fired.

Yep,

I flew with a "senior" capt last week....and the positon put forth was that it was unfair that the line she had only paid 68CH which is the same as a reserve guy. The obvious solution to her was to just furlough the bottom 3-400 guys so we could go back to ops normal. She asked if she was wrong to think that way,
and I said YES

I've never really understood folks working themselves to death the last 5 years for their high 5. Guess I've always thought save an extra 1 percent in the early days so I can take it easier as retirement approaches. Last thing I want to be doing is spending 20 days a month working for FedEx during my last 5 years.

And I sure do love taking my vacation. Nothing better than only working 1 or 2 days a month for a full months pay.

Which just goes to show you, this group has a different idea of what the "problems" are. You were just lucky to get one of them to open up to someone not in their caste.

These same individuals look at you like you're crazy if you tell them retro was a bad thing to push for.

Looking at the bright side; the RSV rules do not impose a significant pay differential compared to a line holder. I for one want to weather this economic slow down as a group.

Good boy (or girl). :D

OK, we all know there is an economic slow down. But what does that have to do with us? I will ask again, are there any cities we serviced in 2006 that we are not servicing today? Is the amount of freight we ship today statistically <,>, or = to what we shipped in 2006. Knowing the answer I must ask why are our BLGs already down 10% on their way to 25%.

The reason this is important is we can't fool ourselves. The last contract and the optimizer are responsible for our perceived overmanning. Unless we admit that we will make the same mistakes on the next contract. Don't let the union or company get away with blaming the economy.
