Another line I hear is that they don't know what to do with their free time. St Jude Hospital is right there in MEM and always looking for volunteers. Those people could use the help. Do you think those kids and parents care about your extra 2% a year for your pension?

Guys,
OK, I'm out on the limb again with a saw....here goes.....there are many reasons guys may be staying after 60. Money,ex-wife, new wife, kids, insurance, parents, ego, speedboats, passion, etc. However, there are many alternatives to take care of these individual needs outside of FedEx.
If you have your 25 years and age 60, please consider the folks junior to you who are faced with downgrades and possible furloughs. It will not be enjoyable to associate with 4,000 + who resent you.
If you are flexible, you can easily combine your FedEx retirement with a new flying job that will provide you with a combined income FAR greater than your FedEx current income....especially @ reduced BLG's. If you want specifics on available flying jobs, I will happily provide what I found on my searches.
I know my opinion is worth little, but over the years, I never saw FedEx give something for nothing, it was always Quid Pro Quo. It seems any early retirement incentives will have a cost to the company, and it would be cheaper for them to stay on the present, regrettable course. Don't hold your breath.
Although some object to me taking a flying job at a new carrier, I held up no one @ FedEx, and caused no financial loss by staying. Hopefully some of my age group will re-think, and value their reputation that was hard-earned over many hub turns, and much turmoil.
Many thanks to those of you who gave me such great memories and stories,....and who took great care to protect your life, and my ticket.
God bless,
B

You guys are dreamin. The ND are not gonna just walk away from the $$$$ so you can have there seat. Nope most will fly until they die. The last leg will still be in a Fedex jet............. be it in the aft bulk or lower cargo section.

Combine that with a FX retirement and a guy would be way ahead of a 60+ BLG...

I see PLENTY of ND's handing out shopping carts at Wal-Mart!

To all of those who want to help out the "ND"s with a "good deal" early retirement incentive.....What are you willing to give up. It won't be free. It will cost something. I am not willing to give up anything.
