Interesting, I took out the icons and the descriptions but this is what I see on page 2 of the travel section…

You must be browsing through the iTunes? I use the online App Store (http://www.apple.com/webapps/travel/index1.html).

Oh, iTunes? I see I guess the online App Store does not have all the applications that the iTunes store does, huh? Weird...

BINGO!

I noticed that little trick a few days ago....the Apple website still has the web apps listed whereas the iTunes App Store lists only native iPhone apps....had me a bit confused too.

[QUOTE=machz990;426127] I bought my phone at an Apple Store and 3 days later I had the full 22% FedEX discount applied to my AT&T account.

I just went back to my ATT store and a different guy then the one that helped me said that they are still not giving a discount on the iphone. Was that discount given to the phone as well as the rate?

For the FDXers...since the Company buys our HSIA at the layover hotels, do any of you (who are Mac users) use the video iChat to call home when you're overseas? Just wondering if that's a reasonable substitute for an actual phone call.

I use it frequently to chat with my kid when I'm on the road, but I'm just a domestic kind of guy. No experience using it when across either pond.

I'm not a purple but a brown driver and we have a discount on the different plans just like y'all do (22% I think). The phone itself however is already discounted for everyone who signs a 2 year contract - has nothing to do with employee discount... Clear as mud?

Thanks for all the good info. Makes perfect sense now.

so, the iPhone is mainly for when you're out and about, and still want/need to be wired to the world.

It would definitely be a lot handier to carry an iPhone around vs. a laptop........got it.....

I was just thinking if you had to pay for some kind of international version of a "T-Mobile Hotspot" subscription, it might be more $$$ than you were saving - just make the phone call direct at $2/minute in that case.

but, if there's FREE wifi out there, makes sense to use it.

AFW,

If you look hard enough you usually can find free wireless somewhere. Some bars/restaurants have it and will give you the password if ask. It is becoming more common.... It isn't a hassle with the iphone, it will look for wifi and will let you know if it is password protected. Like I said, it is just a convenience. I use skype with my laptop for most calls, it is just nice to have a portable version sometimes....
