Crimson and districtpilot,
Are you currently employed at MAC? I have been offered an interview and I am very interested in learning more. I'm about to be a furloughed pax guy and think this could be a good fit. I'd love to hear more from some guys on the line. If you don't want to post here, feel free to PM me.

I don't know about PIC requirements. Best to apply anyway.
As for life at MAC. It is not like the airlines, leave that lifestyle at home.
You may have to file an occasional flight plan, get your own coffee, and
complete all your own paperwork, this even more so for international flying.
You will also deal and supervise everyone first hand, customs, loaders, fuelers
etc. You'll find after a few weeks, this is actually a good thing and can make
the entire process a bit smoother.
Bring your stick and rudder skills. Yeah, we have GPS and Sat link, but our
airplanes get a bit busy in the cockpit under certain conditions (specifically
ice). The maintenance is generally pretty good, but don't expect air
conditioning (we don't have any) but the heat works nice.
Best part: No PAX!!!
Again, there are cake runs with 4 day weeks with 5 hour duty days but
there are also 6 day a week runs that last ALL day. QOL really varies per
line. Also, time flown per month also varies per line. Some will nearly max
you out every month.

Got more. Interview scheduled so I'm trying to find out more.
You guys have a training contract?
Sounds like MEM is open, how often do bases come available?
How many crews are at IND and SGF respectively?
Is the 4 year upgrade listed here correct?

Bases come available...well... randomly. There's no predicting it. When someone upgrades, moves, quits, or retires, then that slot becomes available.
I think there is only one crew in IND, and I'm pretty sure there are no crews in SGF.
I remember when the upgrade was 7 years, but we've had a run on pilots recently and it was as short as 2 years. Again, pretty random.

Whats up CE. I tell you riding here is a lot harder than even when I lived in Denver and the Rockies.
You may be right about SGF not being a base for ATR crews, but I know it's at least a midpoint city. I get the 121 schedule special delivered to me every so often because I expressed to management a possible interest in the ATR in about a year or so.
I read an article somewhere that the new FedEx mini-hub in GSO is on schedule for an early 2009 opening which I guess would mean a need for pilots and airplanes. We will see. I also remember reading that ASA is getting rid of all their ATR's. (FedEx is going to buy them?) I'm not sure, I think it was the ATR guy who has a picture of Roberto Benigni as his Avatar who talked about that.
