Pensacola and Jacksonville Hooters always treated me pretty well. Heck, any Hooters in the Southeast tend to have some talent. Just don't expect too much more than greasy wings and light beer when you go to a Hooters situated above the Mason Dixon line.

I concur! ...however, when I spoke of the "good 'ole days when Hooters was my Job" I was talking about being one of their pilots... ; )

And why can't you say you worked at PACE ?

Well, I answered YES to the question "are you a former Pace guy?" - isn't that clear enough?

Other than being a sleezebag operator that flew charters for HOOTERS, what was wrong with being there?

I worked the Hooters Air side primarily and I’m not sure what your point is... I take it you've only worked at 5-star airlines all your life? Well... I'm glad to hear you went from being a student pilot straight to a major airline without ever having to work at small "sleezebag operations" as you call it.

I was simply reminiscing my former days there where I had a chance to work with some great folks and I’m talking all employees, the pilots, FAs, dispatchers, and yes, hooters girls too.

They were all great to work with and therefore I'll never use the term "sleezebag operator" because in my view the operation was them, the people I worked with, and they were all bunch of good folks.

The chief pilot for this "sleezebag operation" asked a family member to drive him from the hospital to conduct our interview (there were 11 of us) because he felt obligated to be there since a few weeks prior he'd promised us an interview. We had no clue he was dying of cancer and that only 2 months later he'd be gone. Not once did he mention that he was sick or that his doctor didn't want him to leave the hospital.

He was a true Southern gentleman and there were many other great employees there too - I never ran into any "sleezebags" there. I knew this was only a temporary stop for me but I’ll never be ashamed or apologetic for having worked there.

Man, you sure managed to ruin this thread for me…

Red face

Thanks for the flag, the post was pulled anyway. Pace was a "questionable" operation before you were there. And that is from one of their Captains that moved on ... FWIW.

I never said something was wrong with being there. It was almost like you could not say Pace was the operator with Hooters on the aircraft. Sorry I misunderstood ...

And if I was at all of those FIVE star airlines, wouldn't I be a Delta wide-body captain by now ? I'm certainly old enough ...

For a short time I flew yellow-tailed lawn darts down south (RDU). Had a great chief pilot, good crews, but it was still a "questionable" operation. Has nothing to do with the employees, just a big picture sort of thing ... Nice operation that no one remembers, doesn't make it any better.

And by the way, nice AVATAR. But the last page of discussion has absolutely nothing to do with UPS hiring requirements. Most likely because none of us actually know what they will be next year ... if we hire at all.

Back to the topic so you can rejoin the thread ...

Later, the brown CC

Thanks for the flag, the post was pulled anyway.

If by “flag” you’re implying that I flagged your post then you’re 100% wrong. I’ve only “flagged’ someone once before and it was for using very racist language. I like discussions and am not afraid when people disagree with me and I always hope the same will work the other way.

Couldn’t understand your strong and very negative opinion about a company I worked for in the past but that’s ok. I was simply disagreeing with you and even then only to a certain extent. Never saw any reason for “flagging” your post and am not guilty of what (I’m assuming) you are accusing me of.

Pace was a "questionable" operation before you were there. And that is from one of their Captains that moved on ... FWIW.

Well, to a certain extent I do agree with you BUT I also know many pilots who’d disagree with that opinion. There’s no doubt the working rules were pretty crappy and so was the pay – however, “sleazebag operation” in my view is a very strong statement especially when based on someone else’s opinion rather than your personal experiences.

I never said something was wrong with being there. It was almost like you could not say Pace was the operator with Hooters on the aircraft. Sorry I misunderstood ...

No problem, if you ever get bored you can go back and check some of my old posts from a few years back when I was giving advice to some folks who’re asking for advice on how to get hired at Pace. I used the term HootersAir simply because that’s the flying I did most of the time and also because people were "talking" about Hooters restaurants in this thread. Either way, no big deal.

And if I was at all of those FIVE star airlines, wouldn't I be a Delta wide-body captain by now ? I'm certainly old enough ...

I knew you weren’t because I remember talking to you in ANC when we were drinking beer a while back. I was just making a point that even if I had any opinions about Midway, Delta, etc., since I never worked there I wouldn’t call those companies “sleazebag operations” based on someone else’s opinions.

But the last page of discussion has absolutely nothing to do with UPS hiring requirements. Most likely because none of us actually know what they will be next year ... if we hire at all.

I agree, I was responding to the few posts that mentioned time spent at Hooters – you see, we used to get 50% off at all wholly owned restaurants and as you can imagine I “logged” many hours there…

Either way, back to the topic – I predict a new hiring window will be announced on November 5th, 2008.

Cheers!

Not quite. I was an FA for about 8 months on the Vacation Express side of things, based out of BNA in 2003. However, I knew a fair amount of the crews. Before I was an FA, my company handled you guys in SFB. I got to know most of the Pace drivers. While not the best paying or schedule wise, Pace was an outstanding group of individuals. I'm proud to have known and worked with everyone at Pace.
