Default FedEx New Hire schedule

I know seniority and a few other variables come into play when determining when a pilot flies but I wanted to see if anyone could give me a good answer to this question. Is it realistic for a NH at Fedex to get a schedule where if he commutes to Memphis twice a month he can fly trips in and out of Memphis for 5-6 days at a time (or be gone the whole 5-6 days)? My understanding is that NHs are at the bottom of the seniority list so you kinda get whats left. However, are there enough flights out of MEM to allow me to get my monthly time in by doing two 5-6 day blocks or will it likely be spread out over the month...

Thanks for any info...

You will be on reserve. No problem getting your days lumped together so you can commute. 80% of pilots at FedEx commute.

How often do guys on reserve actually fly? Is it likely that I would sit in Memphis for 5/6 days and rarely get called? I'd rather fly than just sit but if sitting will let me lump the days together the way I want then so be it...

You can request first fly while you are on reserve. There are plenty of guys on reserve who live in MEM that are more than happy to sit at home and let you fly.

Seniority is everything as a commuter, you may need to think about passing up an upgrade early for quality of life as a commuter.

The majority of pilots do commute, but the actual number lately is between 62-67%. Minor point though, because commuting CAN be manageable at almost any seniority level.
