Default FDX-USAF recall to AD from O

Does anyone have the real scoop behind the latest AF recall to Active Duty information from O's email? I've heard some rumbles that they are considering recalling from the IRR in order to fill UAV slots. Is this what all that was about? Who still has contacts at AFPC? I'd hate to send in my info just to find out I just added my contact info to a UAV recall spreadsheet.

Also, is this for real from the AF or is this just another try to get more people to take leaves of absence without really offering a better LOA policy?

i find that extremely hard to believe. plus, its official, UAV slots are now being assigned to pilots directly out of pilot training as a first assignment so there will be no problem filling slots

Take a look at the "voluntary recall to AD" thread in the mil forum.

It would appear that the bottom line on this one is that at AF is headhunting for separated guys at carriers that are/will be furloughed in this crappy economy. Smart on their part, but does not forgive their insane stupidity for offering separation bonuses to too many people 2-3 yrs ago. But now that their bed is made... I'll keep saying it--too much a$$-clownery at AFPC.

Buyer beware, as they are most certainly looking for deployable positions. And your chances for promotion... well you know you're screwed since you dropped papers once before.

I disagree with this statement. We had plenty of furloughed guys that came back on AD to fly the U-2, were given good jobs and promoted. Just because you separated once doesn't mean you won't be promoted if you go back.

OTOH, I had a friend who went to the Reserves, separated for a couple years, then came back to AD. When it came time for his AD promotion board, his record was empty. They had "archived" all his information - straight to the shredder. Even worse, the records office at AFPC kept telling him nothing was missing - but then after the board a different office asked him why there was nothing in the record.

I got a letter the other day asking the same questions about returning to active duty and I quit back in '04. Rumor is looking for guys to live in lovely Indian Springs, NV or Clovis, NM.

I sent the letter back asking why they paid guys 100k last year to get out and now want guys to come back in. I sent it postage due, so I may not get a reply.

So when are they going to start building the remote airports to fly in and out of.

I don't think people will ever go for unmanned passenger planes but they also won't want unmanned cargo planes flying over their houses each day to get in and out of an airport!
