Jolly,
Did you have to walk 5 miles (uphill both ways) in the snow to check in for those years of grueling hub turns? I think any of us that work at this company know about flying nights. You are starting to sound like the Purple Nuggets just graduated high school and were given MD-11s to ANC at a job fair.
Now that the company is cracking down on those crazy, no good bot users, we can all feast on open time. It will rain on us like a summer's eve! Yippee!

I am more than willing to admit that I could be wrong, but, as was mentioned earlier, the only time I've haven't been able to access open time due to a server overload was on the Thursday open time is released.
So, can't quite figure out why this is an issue now

Thread creep, but I feel the need to call BS on you Jolly.
If you were hired into the MD-11 here, it's because the existing crew force didn't want to go to ANC. I can't remember exactly how many FO vacancies went unfilled on the bid that closed right before the company started sending new hires to ANC, around 70 sound right?
If being a junior ANC MD-11 FO is so much better than being a 727 SO, why did so many vacancies go unfilled, forcing the company to send new hires there?
I was hired into the 300. Did I "win the lotto" too? Or, is it simply because crew members already on the seniority list did not want to go to SFS FO. How about if new hires had been sent to HKG or CDG because those FO seats also went partially unfilled? Would they have scored big too?

First of all, you can ALWAYS fly make-up until your bank is negative 6 hours every month. I.E. if you have a zero make-up bank balance, you can STILL pick up a 6 hour trip. That equals flying straight time on a day off and a ton of people do it.
Secondly, those that bid ridiculous reserve carryover lines to then drop the reserve carryover and protect min days off, then in later months cherry pick the make-up are ALSO flying on a day off. If you would have flown that carryover, you were working on a contractually guaranteed day off.
The reality is there is more make-up going on here than you think. That is what kills draft/volunteer. A ton of people are dependent on an extra 20 hours of flying a month.

Didn't win the lotto. Just the chance to fly a Light Twin right off the bat!
