Fdx Metlife Legal Question
Is anyone familiar with the MetLife legal plan? Is it worth sighing up for? I'm considering it as it seems to be a great price for the services it includes. I just didn't know if anyone has used them for these services. Benefit elections close on the 10th. Thanks.

I've been signed up for it for the past few years. Used it once for powers of attorney, and wills. For the most part, I think it's a valuable service if you need, or think you're going to need legal services in the coming year. If you need services, you are provided a list of attorneys that are in your area that subscribe to the metlife legal program and you choose from that list. But if you think it may be a year with no services needed, you may be better off choosing an attorney of your choice, and paying a one time fee. FWIW.

I've been using them for a couple of years. Didn't use them a lot, but it was helpful a couple of times.
I went back and forth with the State of California Board of Equalization (Tax board --- sounds like something from Orwell’s 1984) over income tax I didn't have to pay. I was based in LAX, but lived in SD.
Got tired of their run around, and within a few days of getting a letter from the attorney under the MetLife Program, things were finally settled.
It’s just insurance. Pros: good value. Cons: you only get legal help from the guy willing to work for less... you won't get the best legal help available, and the help is quite limited. (They don't help you with your land lord issues, and issues that are not specifically listed etc.)

I used it a while back for some adoption paperwork. Saved me about a grand. It pretty good if you need to do some estate planning etc. also.
