Default FDX Carryover

Quick question. If you have a trip that starts on the last day of the month with 85 CHs, how is your pay calculated for the current month (i.e. the month the trip begins), how do you maximize your pay for the following month and what are the gotchas? I sit at a juniority level where this opportunity rarely presents itself and I suppose I could read about it in the contract, but you guys/gals are the greatest. Thanks in advance.

Look on your Pay Summary for Nov, as it will provide you with the number of credit hours for that trip. Subtract that number from the pairing credit to see how many hours you have in Dec.

Also, if you wanted to maximize pay in Dec, you simply bid around the carryover trip.

If you wanted to roll the dice a bit, you could conflict as much of your Dec line with the carryover trip and then cherry pick in the CIC window to try and pick up your conflicted amount + 12 hours.

Either way, you'll be working alot in Dec.

I've NEVER understood the whole carryover attraction? Why would anybody want to work extra days for straight time pay ... I just don't get it? Do you really need the money that badly? Don't you have anything worthwhile to do on your days off? Anything?

If I was making WB capt pay I probably wouldnt get it either but, when I was an S/O alternating between R-24 and hometown DDH lines I was pulling down 100 hours a month and working 5 days a month. If you want to eliminate the appeal of carryover eliminate the CIC rewards for hosing your buddy. I can't think of a better deal in this company than heading into an R-24 month with 30-40 hours of leveling built in.

No need for higher (or public) math. Just look at your Pay Summaries for the next two months. The company computers do the math for you.
