Dave or John G. are the obvious candidates. John has tremendous experience in Negotiating, R & I, and scheduling. In addition he is a mid level Seniority guy (Read no special interest). Many remember Mike W., lots and lots of baggage. the rest just don't have the requisite experience IMHO.

Way to go DS for stepping up!

This guy is completely committed to the betterment of the entire pilot group and is a no nonsense guy all the way around, a total straight shooter. His knowledge of the contract is extremely sound and he would be a great choice.

Outstanding that we've got a couple of sharp guys in the hunt.

Don't know DS, but I do know JG would be a good choice. Has the experience and knows the issues. Just wondering, I know the interviews are open to the membership, but what about the MEC deliberation and vote. That is what I would make a trip to MEM to see. Would like to see if DW tries to steer the MEC to his choice. At least, I would like to know how each MEC member voted.

From the Communications Chairman
Be Politically Active or Be a Political Victim
Captain BrXX MXXXXX AUGUST 2008

"I read an e-mail from our Pilot-to-Pilot Vice Chairman Captain Bob Wallace the other day and he wrote something that crystallizes the basic truth of our American system of government. We can be politically active or we will be political victims."

Last communication update from this empty suit was August, is their any reason why we can not have streaming video, or a "twitter" update in real time as to what is taking place during the interview process, or for that matter a timely summation of the days activities?

Cheers to that. Another D.S. supporter here. I don't know J.G. but hear through the grapevine that he would be a solid pick as well.

Go Dave!

"Tomorrow a Special MEC Meeting will convene to begin the interview process for the open Negotiating Committee Chairman position. The Special MEC Meeting is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, December 4th.
All interviews will be conducted in open session so that interested members in good standing may attend."
This is directed at the FDX ALPA leadership and NC chair candidates--
What a bunch of losers you are, with an issue as important as this that affects the immediate future of relations vis a vis our pilot group and the company, not ONE of the candidates has seen fit to introduce himself nor were they compelled to. Its as if we were chosing an NC chair by shooting at a barrel of fish, blindly. Who are these guys? Buds of some of you, or "good guys" who bought the beer on a layover. Meh! Thursday the process ends, and will we hear about who was "selected" from on high above, or maybe not. Open session, hardly.

Al......such anger......relax my man, you're gonna pop a cork. The MEC is picking them and I'm guessing they will see fit to introduce themselves to the board. The procedure is well established, they pitch themselves to the MEC and the MEC then picks the guy who DW wants. I say this partly in jest because there are some new MEC faces that just may think outside the webb ( a small play on words). Dave S is a "bud", a "good guy" and "buys beer" but he is also as solid as a rock and it would be your good fortune to have him as a friend and as our NC guy. One more thing, what in the heck does "Meh!" mean?

I think you might be overreacting a little. This has turned out to be a somewhat spur of the moment deal with the "loss" of FE. I think it is ok to point a finger at our ALPA leadership for handling this so poorly, but unfair to make dispairaging remarks about the candidates who are willing to step up to volunteer for this thankless job.

All I am pointing out is if we have a comm guy(do we?) lets hear some salient facts without the lawyer BS inherent in our comms.
I love comments like this!! It's no "routine". I can't send an e-mail through ALPA until seated. Period. When I'm seated you'll hear from me.

It's being looked into. I won't blow smoke up your a$$ that it will happen tomorrow, but a lot of "newly" elected reps are trying to make it happen. You want a brief on that and what happened with today's neg chair interviews, call me. I'll give you my take.

Maybe you should read the policy manual. YOU don't get a vote on this. The MEC selects the Neg Chair and it is the MEC who the candidates forward their cover letters and resumes to. As far as open session, a number of non-MEC pilots attended, spoke for candidates, and asked questions of the candidates (which the MEC didn't have to allow). If you're so interested, why weren't you there. I attended and don't have a vote.
