Amazing how that works.

Ummm....I'm pretty sure ours does. Let's see...it takes one CAP and as many as 4 FOs to go MEM-CAN. So how will they move the airplanes if no one bids it? Excess guys off the panel in the Boeing? It's all a matter of unity and will power. How does that Gatorade slogan go?..."Is it in you?"

Quite a different story trying to get 4600 guys not to "bid" it.

I can confirm UAL actually parked the 747-400's for lack of a pay rate when they were brand new. I'm unable to confirm DAL did anything like that.

I'd be interested in what specific guidance was given by UAL's and DAL's ALPA leadership to their pilots. Did they/could they say "don't bid it" or something similar? The strongest guidance I've seen from FDX ALPA was something to the effect of "only bid it if you'd be happy flying it at domestic A-310 rates." I've been under the impression that saying any more than that could be labeled an illegal job action and we'd get sued. How were UAL's and DAL's pilots able to get around that?

Basically the same story....almost. They knew they could bid it and have leverage too by not flying it. We (should) know that if we dont bid it, we wont fly it, and therefore get a good payrate. But, you are correct about the 4700. Much less even. Sorry a$$ mofo's!!

Those guys have a specific clause in their contracts that if they get a new airframe they have to negotiate a payrate. No payrate=parked airplane. Unlike us, they don't have a default entry.

So there wasn't even an option to bid it until there was a negotiated payrate?
I guess if we'd put "(or replacement aircraft)" after every mention of A-380 in our contract we'd have something similar.
