Commando,

We suspect ATSG management is going to try to deal a dirty hand to the ABX pilot group by furloughing out of seniority. They will claim they can't afford the huge training costs involved with training senior DC-9 pilots for the 767. There are also rumors that bankruptcy, chapter 11, is coming within a few weeks. If the company files bankruptcy and gets the judge to throw out our contract, we will be at the mercy of the worst airline management team this industry has every seen. I would imagine the same process of thought is going on at Astar.

Ok smarty. Look at my notes from the ANC meeting two weeks ago. Quick review

36% of DHL cumstomers already at UPS
32% of DHL customer went to Fed Ex
UPS two weeks ago submitted new proposal for the remaining stuff
This includes vol being picked up at the coasts and taken the rest of the way by UPS, It may also include some movement of Int vol. If deal goes through then it will start in July.
Last week DHL said all DC9's being parked by end of Jan and then said all 76's would be flying till June. Add Rick Barrs comments with that press release and we seem to have a timeline
No additional AC required for DHL contract, just fill up our AC
9 DC-8's being parked
3 76's coming, most likely late
2 74's for this year not coming, Cargo Lux not giving them up till 800's come, which will be 2010
"UPS has plenty of Pilots"
"We will be 50 FE's fat after peak and fat in both front seats of the 8 and MD and 400 in ANC"

All this strait from Rick Barr and Bobby L in the meeting, where 60 people were present.

Biggs,

I don't know you, and you don't know me.

UPS has said there are no plans to furlough.

Obviously, that COULD change.

All you can do is plan for the worst, and hope for the best.

Just try and take a deep breath, and relax, and don't worry about every article that talks about negative economic news. You are just going to drive yourself crazy. If a furlough happens, it happens, There is nothing you can do to change that. Try not to stress yourself out about things you cannot control. Focus on what you can control.

Good luck.

Who knows? Here's an older thread where I posted some info (rumors ) on the alleged FDX and DHL talks and Polar was mentioned in one of the scenarios they were looking at...

Which is great. But also confusing. Astar is 100% DHL support. Not like ABX. It boggles the news stories that no one has gotten a letter, not one. What's going to happen Feb.01 ? This is why they are either going to get some kind of contract from DHL, which I doubt, or there going to totally screw all the employess in the last minute by BK Chap. 7- Which I see Dasburg doing.

Come on Biggs, I know you haven't been here all that long but you should know not to believe what these guys say. They are management, they will lie to you, talk with guys on the line who have been around awhile!

Dasburg will not file bankruptcy.

1. It is a privately held company so creditors would go after the personal assets of the owners.
2. They have very, very little debt.
3. They will recover tens of millions from the early termination of their contract with DHL.

You got it all wrong. Biggs meant all Brown guys & gals are PHAT not fat.

Here's the wikipedia 'translation" of the term Phat

"-Acronymn: "Pretty, Hot, and Tempting"

An adjective used in pop culture to express approval. Hence, someone or something that is phat could be entertaining, intelligent, attractive or otherwise to be admired.

When the word first surfaced in the 1960s, men generally used it to describe attractive, or "fine", women. This meaning of phat has been assigned numerous backronym meanings, most commonly Pretty, Hot And Tight, but also including others such as, "Pretty, Hot, and Tempting," and "Pretty, Hot And Thick." Also meaning, "Pretty Hot and Tasty." or "Perfect Hips and Thighs"

So there you have it Flifast - your hips & thighs are just perfect! You worried for nothin'!!!
