FDX-A game of chicken?

Let me preface this by saying that I am in the bottom 700 pilots on the list, and I would rather not be furloughed. Again. Nor would I like to see any of my coworkers furloughed.
Having said that, maybe the union should give FedEx the green light to furlough. Tell the company, that for now, we would rather keep the BLGs at 68 hours and lose 700 pilots. All with the intent of forcing their hand, running the numbers ($) involved and see what is more cost effective, buying up lines, or training, retraining, move packages, buying houses, etc. I believe it is the former. I believe that the company has no intent to furlough, thus their rationale for invoking 4.A.2.b becomes invalid.
This is a thin line to walk, and would require some outstanding brinkmanship on JGs part, but we may get the company to swerve out of the way before we do.
Just 2 cents...

I think it's an old Roman proverb and I feel it's appropriate- “’tis better to have lived one day as a lion, than one thousand days as a sheep”

I tend to agree. I am also in the bottom 700 and don't want to lose my job, nor do I want ANYONE to lose theirs. That being said, I think they are bluffing us a bit and taking advantage of 4.A.2.b because they don't know what else to do and this seems like easy money to them. It will be easy money for them unless we fight.

Here's my prediction--I fully expect an upcoming bump and flush (using the "excess of 1" gambit). Then--gun to the head--a furlough of the lowest XX bodies, with a proviso that they can avoid said furlough by "volunteering" to take HKG FO slots. Once that happens, and "they" get the HKG FO seats filled, expect a rapid re-do and/or cancellation of any previously required training. (We have a precedent!
) Junior FOs in ANC & HKG stay there. Everybody else stays where they are. "Winners" of the 777 bid wish they were back in their old jet. And the company won't have to pay $12K in D/H fees for 4 days of SFS HSTBY (true story!) Hope I'm wrong.

You know Dadof6, you may have something there. I was wondering how to interpret PC's this will create further downward pressure on junior pilots statement...HKG with a gun to our heads...
I'm lower on the list than you guys....as crazy as it might seem, I like your chain of thought.
F em, let them furlough!
