Default UPS P3's vs. P7's

Since reading many Post by the Uneducated, I must respond.

First, NO WHERE does it say P3's get a Bunk over anyone one else. Please oh wise one's show where it does. (AV8R).

It only states that a P3 will NOT sit in the Cockpit.

Just because one is on a company DH does not give this person the right to tell anyone that the bunk is his. Period.

Also, most of the Time a P3 has had many hours of rest, while the P7 is walking dead after a 14 hour duty. And the P3 from the hotel or home.

Just show me where it is written from the FOM to the IPA where it says a P3 has the rights to the bunk-

I see you had to start a new thread just to belittle someone, huh? Nice...

Next time I'll make sure to PM you - the Wise & Over-Educated-One... Unbelievable...

You totally missed the point in my question but that's probably because you're too smart for me...

Some of us need everything written down.....telling us how to behave. Maybe this is why we have so many MRB's.

Anyway, out of common courtesy I would defer to the P3s. If I were extremely tired or just coming off a 14 hour trip, I would politely explain my situation and request the bunk.

IMHO, just because this is not written down anywhere does not give me liberty to act like a jerk and disrespect others sharing the cockpit.

Thank you, that was my whole point. Based on the conversation with my friend who was the P3 I thought the over-60 guy (P7) acted very unprofessionally and hence my question...

No kidding Reghi, one guy is working (p3) ie has to be there and the other is asking for a free ride but wants the free ride his/her way.

To clarify things - here's my previous post and the question I asked:

I was amazed at how an over 60 guy treated a junior pilot just because he "is senior to him" and that's why I posted the question. The common sense approach obviously did not work or the situation wouldn't have happened...

A little off the subject and I might have asked this already but if there are priority 3 & 7 jumpseaters going to/from ANC and the operating crew has no plans of using the bunk who does the bunk "belong" to?

I ask because I heard not too long ago a priority 3 FO who was trying to use the bunk was told (not asked) by a priority 7 "experienced pilot" on the same flight that he would be using the bunk because he only had 3 hours on the ground in ANC before operating a flight to NRT and then he added that he was "senior to him!" (The other bunk bed was already being used by the other priority 3 captain).

The fo didn't argue especially since he got no backup from his captain (apparently the two captains were friends) but I think that's so uncool of someone to jumpseat into ANC just a few hours before operating a looonmg flight across the pond and on top of that to use that as an excuse to take the bunk from a priority 3 guy.

So who's right?

...by merely posting my question (I thought that's what forums were for?) commando declared me uneducated...

Oh well, I'll have to sign up for some commando dual given I guess...

I agree that everyone on board should ask what seat they want, or who wants the bunk.

But to assume that the bunk is for the P3's over any other is not correct.

The P7 has chosen to use the seat, a P3 has been assigned the flight. If a P7 hasn't had enough rest prior to the JS or enough time to rest up after his JS, he/she has planned poorly. The P3's should absolutely, at the Captain's discretion, have preferential access to the bunks.

So p3s are well rested, give me a break. Was I well rested on my 6 hour flight to ANC last night after a minimum reserve call out on Sunday evening? YGTBSM.

It's not the company's call, it's the Captain's. Let's hope he's got some sense.

It's the Captains????????????? We'll lets see, for the last 16 years I've never seen a Captain give a talk or briefing to the J/seaters on who gets the bunk. Never. It's usually done between the J/seaters. But to assume that since your a P3 you are priviledged to the bunk is not correct. People assume this, and I don't know why.

For the last time, please show where it says the P3's get the bunk over 2's through 8's?
