Ok, obviously I am WAAAAAY out of the loop.....
Where did this come from? First I hear they are going to pull 8's out of the desert and now they are reducing the crews by 75%???????

It's waaay better to be a little fat in all seats than reduce the BLG! And hey, maybe there's a big wave of Farve's retiring and then we'll be back to sufficiently staffed. Ya never know...

I guess getting a baby really does keep you out of the loop, huh?
Your info IS correct just slightly 'outdated' - by 2-3 months...

They were pulling DC 8s out of the desert a while back for the DHL-UPS deal. I'm sure you heard DHL instead decided to abandon the US domestic market altogether and keep the international side of it only... (I assume you heard about that, right?)


So even IF we get what's left of the DHL-UPS deal (rumor has it FDX is working hard to get what's left of the agreement) that flying will be a tiny fraction of what the original DHL-UPS deal entailed... Thus those DC8s are no longer needed.

That’s also why the F word has been mentioned so much lately on the doom & gloom board… I think we’ll be fine but things will get pretty scary before it gets better again…

I'm sure this was posted, but...how many crews can be staffed with over 65 FEs? Assuming no furlough, will all of the FEs be over 65? Just wondering.

16-18 Diesels parked Feb. 15th, 6 active and 5 spares left til the end of 09.

Please tell me that something is taking over that flying and we are not losing a bunch.

Also, if you are bumped out of base by displacees, you are then considered displaced too and can go wherever your seniority can hold? Our bids confuse the heck out of me sometimes.
