Default Media and fedex

They're keep reporting fedex plane has crashed in texas. IT'S AN ATR AND NOT FEDEX. YES I KNOW FEDEX OWN THOSE ATRS BUT IT IS NOT FEDEX AND THERE IS NO FEDEX pILOTS BEING TRATED IN THE HOSPITAL. Media is run by idiots.

I agree that the media is a bunch of idiots, but, it says FEDEX on the side of the plane, what do you want them to call it?

While I'm not a huge fan of the media in aviation reporting, there is nothing wrong with this article CNN:

FedEx plane crashes in Texas - CNN.com

They get a quote from a FedEx spokesperson, and they mention that the plane is operated for FedEx by Empire, and the call the "FEDEX pILOTS" just "Two crew members".

glad they were able to walk away...

From Wikipedia on the ATR-42:

Maximum Take-Off Weight

16,700 kg (ATR 42-300/320)
18,600 kg (ATR 42-500)

I think Ms Munoz may have her numbers mixed up!

One of the Caravan's smacked into the hills on the east side of OAK about 10 years ago; I still remember the messges that were being flashed onto the "Hub TV" screens that morning: "Feeder aircraft down, freight recoverable", nothing about the pilot!

We had a FedEx caravan go down about a 1.5 mile hike and about 800 of elevation from my house in Steamboat a few years back. It happened to be on my birthday (which was also on Cinco de Mayo that year. ). The local ramp told me that they were able to recover a large portion of the freight, including one, apparently, very expensive shipment, from the pancaked wreckage. That pilot did not survive.

It'll be off the news by noon - no body count, no Sully, no flaming buildings, no "if it bleeds it leads",....

Wouldn't Cinco de Mayo fall on the same date every year?
