FedEx The Resignation Issue
#11
The way I read the initial post fron FNG, I got the impression that the main point here was that OUR Union started this problem by turning these names over to the company. Why should anyone trust what the Union or this Message line from CB has to say? I still haven't seen anything from the Company that confirms or denies the existence of said agreement. I would agree with FNG that you should wait to see the companies side of this before you call anyone. Just my opinion....
As for your question of "why should anyone trust the Union?"......The message from CB (email?) has a link to the "settlement agreement" letter posted on the ALPA web site. It is signed by CB and LK (of the company).
So.....unless ALPA is now creating forged documents and forging management signatures (ala Dan Rather and the crack CBS news organization) and posting them on the ALPA web site.....and then lying directly to the membership over the phone regarding said agreement......this is an ACTUAL deal signed by the company and the union.
I have talked directly with CB - had a LOT of the same questions that I asked him directly - over the phone - regarding who alerted who to what and why all this was happening in the first place - etc.
He answered ALL my questions directly, and what I believe to be truthfully.
I have talked directly with several other pilots affected by this - who have also talked directly with CB after his email came out.
I'm reasonably assured that this is not a hoax that is being perpetrated by ALPA against it's own membership.
But then again.....I'm convinced that Oswald was the lone gunman in Dallas that day too......
I repeat again - call or don't call whomever you choose to in order to discuss this matter in private - but probably not in anyone's best interest to post details of anything anyone has done or might do on this forum.

Trust the union? Seriously? After the last 2 years? I wouldn't trust either side on this issue (or most other issues for that matter). Where IS the word from the company on this? I agree that something smells funny here.... Independent counsel seems like good advice.
Thanks for the heads up FEXFNG (although I don't trust you either )

1) everyone affected should have gotten and read the email from the union regarding this settlement agreement - last week.
2) peoples' jobs are at stake and anything they write on a public forum (thinking they are posting "anonymously") probably will be used against them.
3) refer to #1, the email suggests you CALL the union directly to discuss it if you are affected - discussing it in written form on a public forum is not smart - whether you've done anything wrong or not.
so.......now that everyone on here has been notified of what's going on...
I repeat - the discussion on the topic here on a public forum should stop now.
Revert to voice comm with the union - or discuss the matter directly (by phone) with your buds who may be affected.

take it all with a grain of salt though - even "first-hand" knowledge of the behind the scenes info can get miscommunicated (both intentionally and unintentionally at times)
just no need to post details on here (whether factual or rumored to be true) that might potentially compromise someone or a group of someones' options going forward.

what I heard was that the "touching of the shwanses" occurred AFTER the amnesty program was created - sort of as a salute to the accomplishment

I wouldn't even consider saying hello to LK or CB without having a lawyer present. Don't trust either one of them as far as I could throw them.
The whole letter, and the timing of it, seemed really bizarre and I knew there was some backdoor reason for it. I just didn't know what it was at the time. Thanks for the info...I hope our crewmember has looked into independant counsel.

Pay back my money?
Well shoot, I already spent my money on a new bass boat! It has on of those cool foot controlled trolling motors. I guess I could give free rides to guys who didn't get any money......

Yeah, I read that. I found it very interesting that a Union Committee chairman would give kudos to a member of management. Especially in these times when the two sides haven't touched pee pees very often. I was told by our current MEC Chairman that it was unconscionable that a pilot would be a member of management. Man, how times have changed. I wonder how that "kinder, gentler, more business like" Union-Management thing is working out.

As long as parties to the specific cases are not participating in this discussion, I see no reason why it can't be aired in public. As no participating parties are involved, nothing posted by a third party can be held against anyone involved.
The way I see it, the more this stuff gets aired out, the better we'll all be.
