Accidents like this make you realize what things are important. I knew the FO and served with him in the military before FedEx. He was a good man and will surely be missed. My prayers go out to his family and the family of the captain.

Yes, truly a horror and the video is an unimaginable event for anyone to watch. God Bless these Flyers and their Families and Friends ................... Tennessee FlyBoy

I don't know what branch of the service these men served in, but here is a little bit of the Navy Hymn for those men. Rest In Peace, God Bless
Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidst the might ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
O, hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea!
Eternal Father, grant, we pray,
To all Marines, both night and day,
The courage, honor, strength, and skill
Their land to serve, thy law fulfill
Be thou the shield forevermore
From every peril to the Corps.
Lord, guard and guide the men who fly
Through the great spaces in the sky.
Be with them always in the air,
In darkening storms or sunlight fair;
Oh, hear us when we lift our prayer,
For those in peril in the air!
God, Who dost still the restless foam,
Protect the ones we love at home.
Provide that they should always be
By Thine own grace both safe and free.
O Father, hear us when we pray
For those we love so far away.
Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidst the might ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
O, hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea!
Eternal Father, grant, we pray,
To all Marines, both night and day,
The courage, honor, strength, and skill

Oh, hear us when we lift our prayer,
For those in peril in the air!
God, Who dost still the restless foam,
Protect the ones we love at home.
Provide that they should always be

O Father, hear us when we pray
For those we love so far away.

Funny how we often look at this forum and find the time to ***** and moan about things. The one great thing is we hear from all our fellow bro's n sis's who share our lose. Makes one realize that things may be bad in the industry and at all our companies we fly for. But when someone loses their lives we all come together and agree.....what a horrible loss.
Thanks for all the kind and sincere posts on our lost brothers!! For those of us who have lost brothers and sisters in the military, it gets no easier in the commercial world.
Bottom Line: We all meet all over the world. Enjoy a couple of beers and our profession. Things certainly could be better everywhere, but at least we are drinking a beer and complaining. Something 2 of our brothers are not doing right now.
Thanks for all the nice posts!

Last night as I was on the phone calling some of the brothers and sisters that have also flown with T.P. to let them know of our horrific loss, my wife was reflecting on some thoughts. She wrote them in a journal of sorts and after I read it, I asked her if I could share it with the forum. The great thing I take away is to really consider how our lives affect others and to make the best of it in our interactions with our brethren.

JPs Wife's thoughts.....

I'm one of many people who are married to adrenaline junkies, called pilots. While the career may take them away from us on a regular basis, the truth of the matter is, that they are always supposed to return. Flying, we are told, is much safer than driving. It's what they love and they are at their best doing it.
So, when we hear of a commercial plane crash, it's a mixed feeling of sadness and relief and guilt. Sadness for death of the pilot and the pain that their family is going through; relief that it's not my own spouse; and guilt for being relieved.
My thoughts a prayers are going to the families of the deceased FedEx pilots. While I did not know the captain, I had met the co-pilot, T.P. Not only was he a pilot, father and husband, he also was an excellent Spinning instructor. I attended his class many times at Randolph AFB.
One life touches so many. We never know what memories we will leave behind. In his own way T.P. touched my life simply by teaching a class. Perhaps this is something I need to remember when I'm in front of a class on my own Spinner. For that moment or hour, I have the ability to have a positive impact on someone's life, and will I make the most of it.

I always feel sad when I see things like this. When I saw the Colgan 3407 Crash, I thought; "Damn, so close to completing the flight." Now, FedEx loses one even closer (in the touchdown zone). And then the same day a Pilatus crashes in Butte just shy of the runway. God bless them all and their families.
