drftddgr 04-06-2009 07:00 PM

thank you JG

MD11HOG 04-06-2009 07:09 PM

Sounds like we're tired of playing cute negotiating games with very serious issues.

HazCan 04-06-2009 07:18 PM

"with or without you" I love it!

Good job boys!!

huh? sorry (I'm clueless I guess), what, exactly does that mean?

pipe 04-06-2009 07:54 PM

I hope they used that language with the company guys.

I am officially entering the cooling off period right now. I'm thinking self-help as our opener.

Rally

Guys and Gals, it's time to rally around our negotiating committee. I applaud John and his team for truly "speaking for me". This job is quickly being eroded into oblivion by management bordering on inept.

Management, and their collective disregard for our professional lives, are providing the spark that could very well become the flame we need to guide us into our next round of negotiations.

I am utterly confident in John and his team. I am also pleased that they told the company to "pound sand". Of course, what choice did the company give him?

I don't know about y'all, but I am tired of being TOLD what I'm gonna get.

Bravo JOHN!!!

gderek 04-06-2009 08:40 PM

A well thought out update. I hope we can parlay this into some strong unity. My NC speaks for me.

highflyer 04-06-2009 09:22 PM

A very well written, cogent argument. Thanks for keeping us in the loop JG!

We are all behind you 100%.

That's what I thought....I just didn't see the "with or without you" in either of yours....that's why I was puzzled.

oh, well - thanks for the reply anyway.

P.S. I thought this was an EXCELLENT update as well - sounds like there might be hope for our union/neg. committee after BC's legacy after all......maybe.

Ranger 04-06-2009 10:07 PM

Finally. Enough of the nonsense. What personally galls me is continuously being lied to and treated like the village idiot. Besides, I've always liked a good, running gunfight.

I now think that I know why DW bid the 777. Can anyone say "insider information?"

Shuckers86 04-07-2009 03:44 AM

Thank you to John and the NC. Excellent update.

SeeDub 04-07-2009 04:21 AM

Finally!... thank you John, thank you NC. I wish we had taken this kind of stand starting with FDA LOA#1.

And I can't say enough about how much I appreciate the level of comm from John and the NC. Great job, keep it up.

cma2407 04-07-2009 05:09 AM

I am sure JG appreciated his MEC Chairman's support during what must have been very tough negotiations. What kind of message did the company get when DW bid the 777 knowing his NC was still trying to use those work rules and compensation as part of a whole series of issues that need to be seriously addressed? If your own MEC Chairman won't back you up with his actions why should the company think anything we have to say should be taken seriously? Though I appreciate all the hard work JG and crew have done, DW's actions, IMHO, cut their legs out from under them before they even had a chance to negotiate anything. Is this the kind of leadership they teach at the many ALPA seminars we pay for? I think I will be writing John Prather and ALPA national and ask what they think about an MEC Chair that sends out messages warning about bidding new aircraft without pay rates, then bids it himself while his NC is trying to secure that very thing. I will also mention the negotiations failed even though our NC did their best. I encourage everyone else to do the same.

FDXLAG 04-07-2009 06:41 AM

I certainly like the all or nothing approach. I rate a 777 pay raise about number 47 on my list of thing to improve on the next contract. Right below pillows for all of the lounge chairs.

Blackbeard 04-07-2009 06:47 AM

Outstanding!!

Grand Slam Homerun from JG and the NC. JG for President! Now, enough of the roughshod treatment. Let's get behind this.

100% agreed. Nice to see a NC that has some teeth. A far cry from good ole boy BC.

FR8Hauler 04-07-2009 08:06 AM

Great informative message line. Sort of depressing to actually hear how bad things are, even though we already knew it. Sounds like our NC is showing some kahoonas. Good job!

HazCan 04-07-2009 08:14 AM

I think we should all go to red lanyards that say "with or without them".

Outstanding, HazCan... pick me up one (and put it on my tab ;))

orca 04-07-2009 09:25 AM

Red lanyards and being upset with our MEC Chairman for bidding the 777 will not help the Negotiating Committee.

No draft. No volunteer. No carryover by protecting minimum days off. No make-up over our already thin BLG to "pad" for our high five. No fuel sense. No flying sick to help a Company that clearly won't help us. No selling back vacation.

These are the things that will tell the Company we are behind the Negotiating Committee. They do not care, or even listen to what we have said, or are saying. We must show them that their actions are unacceptable by our own actions. And we need to start today. Not next bid pack. Not after this trip.

Today. Or they will continue to tell us what we get.

Lovin' it. But at this point, I would be happy to see those who have put away their ALPA lanyards as some sort of statement to dust them off and put them on again. Pins, too. Got yours?

Great first post Orca, you nailed it.

Could not agree more. However, we've got a better chance of God showing up in the AOC with 100 strippers, 2 kilos of pure bolivian cocaine and having a WX cancel party. We are too selfish.

Agree with all but the fuel sense. Wantonly wasting natural resources and the company's operating capital doesn't really help either side. A smaller bottom line gives the company more fire power with an arbitrator to justify some of their actions, IMO. Totally agree with everything else, though.

Let's not forget all the crewmembers out there at 200% right now on Revision 5 or 6 because of Redoubt. They should all call the company at 96 hours past scheduled return and have em buy em a ticket home. Then let the company scramble to find replacements and tickets.

Deuce130 04-07-2009 11:00 AM

I emailed my support to JG and the NC. I also forwarded his email to five or six buds at FDX, just in case they overlooked, ignored, and/or didn't read the email from JG. Let's face it, some guys automatically delete those emails or don't even get them due to bad or old addresses. I also asked them to forward it to four or five others. This is too important to get overlooked.

Check 6 04-07-2009 11:11 AM

Outstanding! I have been waiting for the NC to trash the "business approach" and tell the CO what we want...not what we will accept....

Fights On!

Actually, it should have started with ALPA 1, and never ended. It is funny that what it takes is the Company acting the way they have been to corral the worker bees together, when in actuality, if we had this collective mentality from the beginning, we might not be in the predicament that we, and the Company, are in now. Just basic union busting 101 mentality.

Hopefully, those that "flagrantly" suck up open time, and those that are DP fliers, will realize that collectively, we have most of the power. If anybody doesnt think that after one month of the crew force enjoying their time off at home, among many other options to numerous to list, that the Company wouldnt knock of the BS attitude, those crew members could be considered a lost cause. But the reality is that they probably do know this, but are to selfish to do what is required to get the respect from the Company that we deserve.

Anyway, I can say that for now, the NC speaks for me. Didnt think I would feel that way so soon after the FDA LOA, and the decision of our infamous leader to bid the 777. A most selfish, pathetic decision, IMO.

FDXLAG 04-07-2009 12:40 PM

One thing that struck me about the update is HKG Passover pay was the one big bullet in our arsenal. Too bad some of us thought it was "gaming the system" and we ended up giving a big chunk of it up with the Virtual Training Letter.
