I know quite a bit about bikes and not much about retail deals in Asia, but what catagory and price range are you looking for? Is using it there before bringing it back part of the appeal?

Bought a folding bike from the Giant store, right out of the Shanghai Hilton, about 1.7 miles right hand side. 107 for what would have cost about 250 here. I think the prices on Giant bikes are similar.

Sounds about right. I'd be surprised if there are deals on the high-end ($500+ in the US) bikes but could be wrong.

A few years back, I bought a Giant lower end model for about 2/3 what it would have cost in the US from the same store as described above by CL247.

Recently, I bought a higher end model (Giant Defy 2, advanced) in TPE and paid 2k out the door with a hard case thrown in. Basically about 2/3 the price of what this model is going for in the US. Sweet bike, sweet deal.

Thanks for the info; I'll check out the place here in PVG but it sounds like TPE is the better deal. Thanks.

Would you mind expanding...
Do you have a favorite store? Or are all of the Giant Bike shops the same regarding price? I am interested in buying one soon.
Thanks!

Bikes4families.com is a great resource for buying bikes. They have a folding aluminum bike that is $150 + free shipping and helmet if you want one. They have many choices of bikes and their customer support is very helpful. It's worth a look if you want one shipped there. Good luck.
