MAC vs PC

- It also has no Ethernet (i.e. Internet cable in hotel rooms) port, I had to buy a USB/Ethernet cable (Apple list price ~$25). I was surprised it wasn't as easy as Apple's usual plug and play, I had to do some Internet searches to find a driver before I could use an Ethernet cable.

15" Macbook Pro w/ Snow Leopard here. Everything works great except green screen. Use green screen maybe once a month at work to check CHECKS but nothing else. I'd get a Macbook or Pro over the Air IMO.
Airport Express is awesome. Have several throughout the house and take one on layovers.
Anyone check out the new Magic Mouse? Pretty cool; gonna get one for the iMac.

Green screen? I've been here 5 years and have not needed to check that thing for anything. Even the discounts are avail now thru a regular website. (someone posted it here once)
If I need to change something that requires Green Screen, I just go see my FOA or call them.

I use a Macbook Pro 15", and everything works great. No problems. I use Safari for expense accounts, and flight releases, easily. I access the green screen using Parallels with Windows XP. No complaints, no problems. I'll never go back to a Windows machine. I think the 13" Macbook Pro would be the best overall machine for traveling with.

AG,
I have been a Mac guy since '93 and will never go back to a PC. Just to let you know, I was using PC when they were only made by IBM. I just got a new MacBook Pro 15" and this is my second one. I got one when they first cam out 4 years ago and it still works but I am kind a geek when it comes to new computers
As for the green screen, I use a app I called ise4osx that allows me to get on to it. After you install it you just load the green screen add on like you would for windows. You can find it at:
WineBottler
I just used it the other day. Also, we get a 8% discount at the Apple store and online. The only thing is that you will pay state sales tax if your state has on if you go online. At the store, just show them your ID and they will look up your discount and give to you right then if they have it in stock. Online start at FedEx WorkLife Balance and then follow the links from there to the Apple store online and the discount will be applied.
As for the Air vs Macbook (Pro or not), I would go with a Macbook. Stronger and you will not have to carry anything else with you to make it work.
Good luck,
Noser

I use a MAC Airport Express - about the size of a cigarette pack. Plug it into the hotel room HSIA cable, electricity, and you've got wireless. You're not tied to the desk, and it works great.

I love my MacBook Air. But clearly, it is not for everyone.
I have fond memories (and a lot of chiropractor bills) from the old days when only girls and sissies had wheelie bags and real men hand carried their 50 pound jepp bags and hartmans. But today, it's all about lightness and ease of travel for me. The only thing I like more than my MacBook Air is the EFB!
In all seriousness, the Air sacrifices hard drive capacity, optical drive, battery life and some ports and performance compared to the Pros (not to mention $$ too). But it is an elegant and capable road warrior.

I have an older "white" macbook I bought new 3 1/2 years ago. It works better and faster than my sons brand new laptop from IBM we bought him from school on the schools recommendation. AS soon as it came out. I installed boot-camp on it and boot onto windows on the rare occasion I need the green screen. No problems from Windows. It pained me to no end to load windows onto my Mac, it felt sacreligous. I'm going to buy the unibody macbook pro from the apple site and give my son the older macbook. I don't even need a new laptop.
