The Centurion and Lufthansa incidents were not crashes, one was a combination of fatigue and corrosion and the other a hard landing respecfuly, both are being repaired.......I heard!

I am curious, MD-88 and DC-10 guy here, on both of them, we had a speed donut which referenced the CADC and accelerometers and would let you know if you were too slow ... which would alert you if you were too heavy for a given speed. Does the MD-11 have this as well?

No.

We have a speed tape that shows Vmax and Vmmo/Mmmo on the high side and Vmin and Vss on the low side derived from the FMC or ADC and based on config.

Pilot selected, pilot pre-selected, FMC commanded and FMS speed are displayed over the tape also.

Last we have a trend vector indicating where airspeed is predicted in 10 seconds.

I'm still in disbelief that we lost so many of our friends in Shanghai. It seems so unreal. But Shaun's memorial was almost fun; given the circumstances.

It was very much in keeping with his personality. Lots of very funny stories. Laughing and crying together. There were lots of funny stories about him and us. Also I was very much impressed to see the large turnout of Geminites and new Avient crew. I know it was difficult for everyone to make it there but like everyone else I wish I would have taken Shaun up on his offer to come down and meet his family earlier. His family is hurting but they were gracious and funny and put a great face on all of the stories we've heard.

This memorial made me miss Shaun more, remember the good times we had and miss the great times we had at Gemini and the people Shaun and I met along the way at Gemini. As with most of the stories we all have from Shaun, they probably should not be shared in church or a public forum but I would love to meet up with you guys and swap some Shaun stories the next time we get together.

As much as I miss Shaun, I miss and I wish the best to Pinedog and Saul's families'.

GodSpeed; Please look after the rest of us.

No official information has been released yet to my knowledge, but the rumor is that the last words of a dying member of the crew was "it would not fly"... Sources and names will not be posted, sorry.
