BQN HOTEL ALERT
FCIF 09-0662 (Hotel)
The XXXX Aguadilla Hotel is the crew contract layover hotel for Borinquen, Puerto Rico (BQN). The hotel will house a group of young ladies in an organization called the XXXXXXXXXX on Wednesday, December 16 thru Thursday, December 24, 2009. Because of the large group, crew members that were in house at the time of their check in were concerned about the possibility of having interruptions in crew rest. Crew Travel Services' contacted the hotel and were told that all FEDEX crew rooms would be housed in the XXX building in lieu of the regular accommodations in the XXXX Building. Because these two buildings are away from each other, there should not be a noise problem. This group will be involved in activities in the ballroom of the hotel. Since the ballroom is separated from the XXXX building, FEDEX crews should not have any interruption in their crewrest. C/S, the duty officer and CTS are aware of this concern and since there are no other acceptable properties to relocate these crew rooms during this period, all crew layovers will remain at the XXXXX Aguadilla Hotel, unless crewrest complaints are reported. If you have any questions, please contact Crew Accommodations or CrewScheduling. Thank you,
To anyone having a BQN layover during this time: I will gladly PDO bump you from this trip if you are concerned with your rest. Yours in aviation, MajorKong.

It sounds like a dream come true, until you figure in that the "Young Ladies" were actually 10-14 year-olds, who ran screaming down the halls and held loud conversations in the gaggles that migrated throughout the hotel most of the evening and early in the morning; that there was a false fire alarm once at night and once at noon, that there is a heavy police presence and the ballroom was cleared at dinner when one of the girls discharged her can of pepper spray on another girl.
This "Total Nerd" received zero hours rest in 36 hours. Even the Continental Flight Crew (even bigger "total nerds") requested new rooms.
Spew over - the whole experience of BQN did nothing but reinforce my perception of the stereotypical Puerto Rican.

Sorry Cliffy, my attempt at humor. I will edit my post. Don't these young women have mothers?

Wow, are people really complaning about TJBQ layovers? You've gotta be kidding me over! I started off flying fedex feeder freight out of BQN, lived there for quite awhile. Possibly some of the best times of my life.
I thought the people were amazing. Beaches, worldclass surfing, excellent music, hiking in the mountains, night life on jobos isabella not bad either. Crashboat beach. Never a dull moment.
The fedex ground crew at bqn also throws a serious christmas party. Great people.
