Default FDX new hires @ foreign domicile

Guys,
D is looking at a base in Guam........CAl/ MIC starts new hires in Guam at 2nd year pay, and pays moves to/from with a 2 year committment.

I know 4a2b is the current major enemy, and no one currently on board would be on 1st year pay, but new hire bubbas might actually be able to survive in Hong Kong if started on 2nd year pay......LOA time to benefit the troops , instead of PC's MBO ?

Just askin'

Whatever pal.........you're just beating a dead horse. FDX management will do whatever they want to do w/regards to new hires - as they've proven in the past. We're just along for the ride.

CAL only within the last few years went to 2nd yr pay for neebies going to GUM. That was to stop the FE and now FO turnover rate. Worked too...

FedElta,

I was with you on your original thought but I highly doubt FedEx cares about what ANY other ALPA carrier does? It doesn't make any sense to me either, I wonder what makes them think they know everything already? Wierd?

A couple of the professional instructors around that are supposed to already have metered to the line inquired about getting 2nd year pay in Hong Kong.

The company's answer was ALPA wouldn't allow it...then they apparently made them sign a contract update saying they would be MEM based 727 S/O's.

I don't think either party wants any part of this.

You would think so FedElta. As a matter of fact, Our ALPA boys (excluding EA; he already knew what kind of agreement was needed, having lived for years at an FDA. But being a "proponent of hysteria", ie, in disagreement with the MEC and others, he was the redheaded stepchild!) did exhausting research in CAN and HKG for our FDA LOA, and came up with the best they could....the Companies initial offer! But, they had a great union subsidized visit during their research.

Our new ALPA reps might be interested, but to late now. The ink has dried. Our old ALPA leaders didnt give a s@$t. I am still waiting to see how they will be rewarded by the Company for their excellent work!

If FEDEX pilots expect management to "fix" the problem of what new hire pilots are paid (or any other pilot) that will NEVER happen. As long as the application drawer is overflowing they have no problem to fix. It is up to us, the ALPA FEDEX pilots, to make the sacrifice and DEMAND in our next contract that new hires receive a decent starting wage. Management will never do it as long as there is no shortage of pilot applicants. Our non-union FEDEX pilots can not be counted on for their help or support. Only the ALPA FEDEX pilot, through some other contract concession, can fix this wrong.

FedElta - apologies if I sound like I'm giving up - sometimes I think FDX ALPA has, but that's another thread.

I have always been impressed with the Delta MEC for holding steadfast when they negotiated your 777 pay rates - even to point of parking 777 I do believe. Wish we could have had your solidarity, yet our former MEC Chairman is waiting to go to 777 training - w/out a pay rate.
