Thumbs up Whale

Obviously there are many strong personalities on this board. Any one who posts here will draw supporters and detractors.

I think you are the only poster I have seen ( apologies Albie ) who has attracted only supporters who seem genuinely pleased to see you coming on board.

If you can win over this bunch, you will be a welcome addition to the purple family, and great to fly with.

Props & kudos,
BG

Congrats Whale! You landed a sweet job.

You'll do a great job in the sim with your background. Enjoy it and hopefully see you in the school house soon!

Keep us posted with any news coming out of the training department.

Is the contract still for two years before you can go to the line?
I think so but I like to teach so I will stay as long as needed.

Thank you for the kind words.

I am really looking forward to working with such an awsome group of aviators.

This has been better than winning the powerball! Reason is, I know that I will never really ever match all those lottery balls.

Thank you very much!

Whale.

I might call on those living locally in MEM to perhaps point me on where to find a good place to call home for my family. For now, they will remain at our present home up North.

Whale,

I understand that once you transfer to the line your 2 years seniority will not transfer. But will your longevity transfer (for pay, vacation, etc...)??? I hope so.

Either way though, sweet gig while we wait it out in the pool.

Nothing transfers except longevity for retirement purposes (years of service,) provided all the youngsters have not negotiated us out of the A plan by then, in favor of a bigger B fund. No time counts for vacation purposes. However, anything that has a waiting period, like insurance, the few travel benefits we get, or the start of the 401K and B Fund, will start immediately, as your time served will count towards any waiting period.

Also, make sure you are "still in the pool." Although the rules periodically change, it traditionally has been once you are an employee, you can no longer be hired like an external. You have to go through whatever interview and waiting period that requires (different jobs within the company, like training instructors, corp pilots, and regular ramp folks have different requirements.)
