All the RFO pairings should be Capt. Then we would need more Capts.

The CBA requires it for the first 3 bid months, for all new 4 crew sequences. Both CDG-HKG and HKG-CDG are new in April. Expect 1/3 cap/fo in July.

International Double Crew Provisions
A double crew for a 2-pilot aircraft shall be:
Scheduled: A double crew may be scheduled with 2 Captains and 2 First Officers or with 1 Captain and 3 First Officers, provided, however that for the first 3 bid periods during which a new lane segment is being developed, a double crew flying that lane segment shall consist of 2 Captains and 2 First Officers.

NW has had ONLY Capt. RFO's in their contract for years. The logic is quite simple. Capt. RFO's = more widebody captains! A good thing for everybody

Hey ... that's funny! (not really). Maybe if we ever fly together I can draw pictures for you and bring the discussion up to your level?

That's exactly how it was when the company first began scheduling augmented crews, but too many Capt's got in a pi$$ing contest about who was really in charge. The fix was to use only 1 Capt. and the rest FO's. If I remember correctly, the change was due to the Union's request.......just another example of us shooting ourselves in the foot.

Default Permanent RFO's

Has FDX ever discussed the possibility of have a separate seat assignment that is RFO only? Could it be the new entry level position when the FE seats dry up?

Don't shoot me.

Have heard recent discussion about a "cruise only" rfo like some of the other airlines have (they get all of their landings in the sim). The discussion seems to include hopes that maybe the OVER 60 crowd might bid it?
