Default MEF and JA2 at UPS

This whole situation is disgusting. There is more MEF then ever and nothing is being done about it. What good is filling out the online MEF form doing? Where do these reports go? What becomes of them?

Also JA2 is being done like crazy in ANC. There is a JA2 3 days from now from ICN to HKG. Are you telling me in three days there is no way to switch out a captain to a FO?

Captains do you feel 100% comfortable in the right seat? As 100% comfortable as you do in the left? Are your flow patterns performed as if you trained there? if not then you should not be on that flight. Say no and call the POI or Washington and tell them !!! Do not get on that flight if you are not trained to operate in that seat.......

The captains flows seem easier then the FO and as many times as I have seen them I would not be comfortable in doing them. I know I would miss something...

What other global 121 airline allows captains to fly as FO's who have not trained in the seat?

Even the commuter that I spent most of the 90's at could not FORCE a Capt to operate in the right seat if they had never flown on the line in the right seat of that aircraft type.

FS,

MEF results in flights being covered that really should not be. Flights not being covered will delay furloughs. See B+G threads to hear the EB's story as to why an injunction cannot be filed. IMHO, MEF flying is the desired result of furloughing in the hopes that more cards will be signed. There will be no injunction. We are fodder to acheive a critical victory for our collective long term well-being. The OT/JA ban is working if MEF is increasing. I asked the EB for ROE guidance as to how to handle flying with someone performing MEF and was told to just smile. We are fodder, it's just war.

Our POI agrees with you and this years training includes captains in the right seat. he gave UPS a 12 month catch up window before throwing the flag

It has been happening for a long time. It really makes you mad that our union prez said there would be no more MEF after the furlough started. Another broken promise I guess. A few families, mine included, were counting on a different outcome.

You see all the OT and every fleet/seat? Its gonna be really interesting to see how this stuff is covered.

I cannot figure out why the union has not been to the mat on why we have managers on almost every flight out of ANC (at least the MD and 400). Furloughing union employees and giving non union employees bonuses.

Just curious if the captains have to accept this training?

It is not the seat they bid for or were awarded...would the union back up the captains who refused training in a seat they did not bid for?

Per the FAA approved FOM, Capts are legal to sit in the right seat. The right seat training is part of this years AQP. I heard that the FAA made UPS include this training in AQP since UPS does use Capts in the right seat. It would be great if the POI disallowed the practice.
