Reserve Rant
I know I'm not the only one, but this morning marks the 300th "insufficient reserve" R-day drop denial that I've gotten over the last month and a half. (yes thats a real number.... I went back and counted) How can we be so short that not one day of mine can be moved or dropped???? and yes I tried both months to drop on the day open time was released.....
And due to the awesome new security protocol of the EGRID. I was on VIPS only to be booted off and unable to log on again for 20 minutes.... What a great system that is. Maybe we could require a paper cut induced blood sample prior to logging on. . . . (I guess a free bandaid out of the AOC med locker would make it all better)
Coupled with that, last month I was at the 86 hrs for a RLG of 89... Still got called out on the last day to make it a solid 92hrs off of reserve. . . .
Yep wouldn't want to give someone at least one day a reprieve. I've NEVER been so tired in my life because you can't plan how to sleep. Whups..... did I just bring up the F-word..... (get your mind out of the gutter.....I'm talking about Fatigue)
Can anyone enlighten me if our future negotiations are even addressing the total inflexibility of our system as it stands rt now??
As a solution.....
When someone drops an R-day, Why doesn't that go into open time for someone else to pick up? This would prevent the complete depletion of reserves. Ideally someone could pick them up these R-days out of their makeup bank which would possibly help them pay their alamony and give us a reprieve of the insufficient reserve (advantage to both line holders and reserve bums). Please don't just tell me its the "single R-day rule" because it could be made mandatory to pick up a minimum of 2. Anyways, in my simple thinking, this would at least help.

I've been on Reserve (usually RB) most of the last 3 years. The last 6 months have been brutal. Leveling no longer matters, it's simply a question of where you are going that day (EVERY day!) and what time you will get called.
There appears to have been a policy change ... Why pay a line holder 6+ hour/day when you can get a reserve to fly the EXACT SAME trip for 4+ hours/day? Long out-and-backs are now typical (LAS, GDL, MTY, LAX).
We really need to rewrite the reserve rules during the current contract negotiations! I'm tired of being abused

Amen Sunburn! I've either come close or slightly exceeded RLG every month but 1 for the last year+ on RA. I think the computer just takes a default to 'insufficient reserves'. What I hate are the 24-hr layovers (9-hr level) off reserve, so when you get back they can't/won't turn you, you get your 10.5 'rest' (off the clock), and get called again at midnight. This way they can JUST HIT RLG after working you for the full 15-day footprint. The bonus is your body clock is so screwed up you can't feel a thing!

As far as completing a survey..... I've done that every time I've had a chance over the last 6 years..... Guess what..... No reply, no interest, and definately no change. I'm sorry, but this issue seems to gather very little notice or concern when compared to the issues of the "great and all knowing". Once again, this is just a rant. I don't expect anyone to do anything about this.... It's apparently not worth the unions time.

Tried to move days the night of Open Time release and mulitple times per day since and.... Insufficient reserves.. How the F can you not have enough reserves before the bid month has even started? Insane how few people on reserve.. I don't even know if it was that low during 4a2b. Reserve needs serious change! And yes I said such in the survey!

I'm really confused, how can we have "Insufficient reserves" all the time (and wet leases) when just a few short weeks ago we were all taking it up the 4.a.2.b because we were so OVERMANNED?
Maybe management isn't being honest with us?
