At this time last year we were waiting 12++ hours for Crew Notifications for ANY move, drop, trade, pick-up, etc.
This year it seems to have worked better! (Or maybe everything was declined due to insufficient reserves??).
Whatever they did last night to improve the process seemed to work!

Seemed to work? I'm guessing your second idea is the actual solution. They can turn-around schedule change requests quickly when all they have to do is hit the "DISAPPROVED - Insufficient Reserves" button!
In addition to a "swap with open time" option they should have a "I Guess I'll have to call in sick because I have no other viable scheduling tools" option?

Is this outfit every going to man the airline properly!*? "Might" be good news for the poolies?

Maybe I'm way off base, but I was infuriated at having to wait an hour for them to hit the process button last night. As a result I put in at least 50 trade requests to cover every possibility. They are just making more work for themselves by not having real time trades.

I guess it depends on your aircraft/seat. In the MD FO seat, it took hours to get any notifications. I put in requests as soon as I could get on the site (VIPS server busy) and didn't have notifications at 2AM. I just made about 30-40 selections and went to bed. I did get the notifications when I woke up at 7AM.
As someone else said, we put in about 10X the number of requests because it takes so long for crew scheduling to get it. It makes their workload much harder. Why they can't fully automate this system or at least bring in a few extra bodies for open time release is ridiculous.
I saw no improvement at all....

3 hours is better than the 12-14 hours we experienced a year ago!
FDX will never have real time trip trading -- it is a "control" thing. Easier to blame a person than the "software" let the trades thru.....

I put in a request to move an R day on DEC 31st to earlier in the month. The Max open was 29 and there was only one stnby period on that day, nothing else. I must have put the request at the exact moment that you could because I got a response 10 secs after putting it in. Yes, it was disapproved for insufficient reserves. I couldn't believe that with all the reserves they had that day, 1 trip and it was after peak and they still disapproved it. It's rigged and total BS. BTW I'm in the left seat of the MD-11. I'll be contacting the negotiating committee and telling them that the trading and reserve systems need fixing!!!!!
