My guess is this:

Internals Poolies = 727 FE (Looks like 10-15 a month through May)

New Hires = MD-11 HKG or HKG Airbus (if not filled internally)

then

New Hires= 757 Right seat (MEM or Cologne if not filled in Aug - Oct 11)

That's what is going around the office they say???

In other words, nobody knows. LOL.
Isn't that going to cause more passover headaches?

CBA 24.5.E.
c. If the Company subsequently hires additional pilots to fill new hire crew positions remaining unfilled from a posting, the remaining unfilled crew positions shall first be available for award to the pilots previously hired to fill positions from that posting, based upon their seniority and initial standing bid; provided, however, that this paragraph shall not permit a new hire pilot to change his initial crew status.

d. If, through the application of Section 24.E.5.c. (above), a junior pilot is activated into a crew position for which a senior pilot(s) did not have the opportunity to bid, the eligible senior pilot(s) shall be paid passover pay in the same manner described in Section 24.D.2.b., D.2.c., and D.2.d.

Walrus-

I wouldn't have passed on such a soft pitch either!

What the gentleman meant to say is...How long after Indoc does training typically begin? Assume training is all in MEM?

Yeah, I had to take a swing. Training in your aircraft would continue the next day. Indoc is just the first part of training where they teach us how to wear our leather jacket and make fun of UPS guys.

10 days of indoc will probably be Mon-Fri for 2 weeks. Airplane specific training should start the next Monday. Most training should be in Memphis, but during hiring surges, we have used many off-site locations, like MIA, MSP, DFW, DEN, etc. I did my 727SO training in MIA, in the same sims I did my PanAm 727FE training 10 years earlier.

If a guy starts out as a newbie in MEM, how long before he can bid for ANC? How about bidding ANC out of the chute?

If a newhire gets 727FE, how long does he have to stay there?

Is there a seat lock? Or can one bid out, when/where seniority allows, to any right seat as soon as possible?

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Until there is a bid for something else you can hold? Next day in theory under ideal circumstances.

New hire FE training is 45 days or so. So, two weeks of BI, a week off probably, then 45 days. So, about 65 days or so from Day one to IOE.

Well, yes and no. Is passover more expensive than hiring a pilot and putting them through training and then immediately training them again? So for the first 3/4 a year you don't even get to use them plus all the costs?

Also, only about 16 pilots on the seniority list don't have window seats.

And of those 16 pilots who don't already have window seats that wanted a window seat.. I would bet they are going to get another opportunity to bid for one before they hire into a front seat. And if the wide-body seats are in HKG.. then I'm sure most anyone currently on the property can have that seat. (remember how "senior" it went)

It could actually be done with no passover implications at all.

I'm guessing the new FDA that will probably be announced soon will probably be very good. More will go than you think...
