FDX - Basic Indoc Scheduled

Internal hires come from the corporate department or they were hired as professional instructors for one of the fleet training programs. Although the agreement has changed over the years, generally these pilots have been interviewed up front for a follow on to be line-holder Fedex pilots.
Good to see another company hiring.

Hey thanks... I guess the reason I asked was because I remember seeing a job opening maybe a year ago for a 777 sim instructor. In the ad it gave the info and mins for the position and then in bold letters THIS WILL NOT LEAD TO A FLYING POSITION, but as you said in the latter years the agreement has changed.
Good to see another company hiring.

Yeah, and some of our 9E guys filled out the app without reading that. I can think of one in particular that already got off on the wrong foot when he was offered the job, found out it wasn't gonna lead to a flying position and tried to back out. That's the rumor at least. Either way, there are a lot of guys much happier that person is employed elsewhere now.

Well, it could lead to a flying position. Just in the same manner that working the ramp could lead to a line position. There is a in house corporate Job Change Authorization process that would let you interview to be a pilot if they were hiring.
Metering = Line interview 36 month commitment (or more...)
Non Metering = 24 month commitment, then interview to be a pilot.
One is a bit more of a roll of the dice than the other.

The only difference is/was (no more metering positions being offered they say) is that metering guys would go even if no hiring was taking place. Under the new rules, it's just like any other move within FedEx.
After 2 years and you can place a JCF (Job Change Form) and move over to line flying....they have to be hiring pilots, you have to meet the mins, pass the interview, and not have any work related issues such as bad behavior.
Metering pros did a pilot interview when the interviewed as a pro...

I think the internals and poolies will get 727 FE and then all bets are off. The back end will be full. The BI has been redone in anticipation of hiring directly to the right seat.
My guess is this:
Internals Poolies = 727 FE (Looks like 10-15 a month through May)
New Hires = MD-11 HKG or HKG Airbus (if not filled internally)
then
New Hires= 757 Right seat (MEM or Cologne if not filled in Aug - Oct 11)
That's what is going around the office they say???
In other words, nobody knows. LOL.
